Worst

Good Service 3/27/2011

I use to go to Lynn's Nails on olympic at her new location until I had a experience. When I went in the ladies room at Lynn's Nails I saw roaches running around. She wasn't happy when I had told her about it but instead she gave me a bitchy attititude. Her staff seems to be so afraid of her and told me not to say anything to piss her off. Hello? I am a customer not employee... On top that I heard that her brother who is also working there with her did some time in jail for murder. I don't want to be anywhere near that. It just gives me the creeps. For now I am trying different places and Hands On Spa is so far so good. more

Nail Salon for Germaphobes 1/29/2010

No massage chairs here, but a relaxing mani/pedi experience, nonetheless. I can?t vouch for any of their other services as I?ve never had them, but their nail care is great. From the second that you walk in and are offered wine and snacks, you feel very pampered. As with any nail salon, some of their technicians are not as skilled as others. This is unfortunate because with the price of their services, you really should be getting the best. Despite an occasional less than perfect paint job, I still continue to go back to Hands On because there?s no other place that compares to them in terms of sanitation. There are so many horror stories out there about the various diseases that you can pick up at a nail salon, and do you really want to chance it? Hygiene is really where Hands On excels ? all tools are packaged and opened in front of the costumer. This is a truly relaxing and luxurious experience. Bonus: They have a retail store below the salon to cure that shopping bug- the only kind you possibly could have picked up during your time there. Pros: Very sanitary! more

5 star mani-pedi! 8/5/2009

Perfection!!! 6/24/2009

Just got the best mani / pedi at this place, the vibe is totally chill + the service was great. I found my new spot! more

be careful! 6/18/2009

I had been a customer for a long time and noticed that most technicians are not as detailed as they should be for the high price tag. The better ones usually have regular clients and are hard to get an appointment with, you need to plan well in advance. Don't get too friendly with them as they will play nice infront of you but really are just about the dollar. Sadly there is drama and some attitude there as it is a bunch of women in a small place gossiping all day. It also seems that some customers are lavishly rich and technicials brag about how their client take ""care of them with gifts/tip etc"" but it might be a ploy for you to ""step it up"" to the same level. That is crazy to me. My advise would be to make sure you find a technician who is skilled and not to talk to them much. Keep the conversation minimal and don't cancel an appointment or you will be charged. The owners seem genuinely friendly and polite. Pros: very sanitary, comfy chairs, friendly owner+front desk Cons: inconsistent+passive aggressive staff & cancellation fee more

Highly Recommended! 6/12/2009

Best mani/pedi spot in LA. The neck massage ""add on"" is amazing!!!! more

A nice suprise 6/7/2009

I love getting my mani/pedi's done here, mainly because the staff rocks & they use a lot of organic products....but the fact that they offer complimentary wine is the best!! It's fun to go with a girlfriend on a Sunday afternnon. Pros: wine & atmosphere more

The Best Spray Tan!!!!! 6/4/2009

I went here for a detox foot bath, which I highly recommend. I had a lot more engery after I did it. I came back to get a spray tan a week later, and it looked amazing. I have tried other places for spray tanning and I ended up looking orange, the color they gave me at Hands On was perfect, it looked really natural. I Pros: tanning, detox foot bath, staff, atmosphere more

I LOVED it! 5/30/2009

I came for a mani pedi because a friend had recommended Hands On to me. I was very impressed, the service was amazing, very different from you average nail place. I liked how sanitary everything was. I was suprised so see that they offered so many other services. Next time I am going to get a massage too! Pros: staff, atmosphere more

Unbeleivable massage...!!!!! 5/5/2009

I walked in one day just to check out the place, the staff was very nice and friendly... they mentioned that they had added some new services, they walked me next door and showed me a sign of different new services they were offering and even gave me a tour of the new place. All the new rooms are on the second floor which seems very nice everthing seems very clean, orginized and an area to really relax, they also have a waiting room inside that has access to an outdoor waiting area. I was very pleased with the attention and courtesy offered during the tour and I immediately schedule a massage. I tell you this was an amazing massage, the touch and pressure was fabulous the therapist using different techniques which literally put me to sleep, the therapist was aslo very polite and always courtious towards me... I had a great great time and it was really worth my money (which is very important for me). Im definately going back for massage!!! and I recommend this place if you want to relax and enjoy a wonderful massage. Oh and ask for Jose hes got a great touch. I already recommended this place to several of my friends and family members. more

Don't know how to keep long time clients 6/20/2008

I enjoyed manicures and pedicures at the Hands On Spa for many years. I had an appointment one afternoon that I had to cancel in the morning. The appointment was at 5 and I called around 9:30 after my doctor called me to confirm that I had Strep throat. I was waiting until the morning until I felt better to call and also to hear from my doctor. Rather than going to Hands On and infecting everyone there, I rescheduled my appointment. Later that day, I received a call from Hands On saying that they would have to charge me anyway for the missed appointment. I had already rescheduled so I canceled that appointment and I will never go back there again. They just lost a customer and do not even care. The woman was rude and no understanding. Do they even know how to run a business? more

Rushed Service- Not worth the Expensive Price 5/16/2008

I had a gift certificate for Hands On and was excited for my pedicure, but came away very disappointed and cheated. It took me 3 days to get an appointment. When I walked in, the entrance was crowded and the atmosphere was rushed. Pros: ambience, music, relaxing chairs Cons: rushed service, overpriced, snooty staff, booking appointments, more

My Favorite 7/23/2006

Hands On is my Favorite. My favorite store, my favorite nail place. The boutique is filled with the best selection of clothes. I have never seen anything that I wouldn't wear. I would buy the entire store if everything came in my size and price range. The spa is the best mani/pedi I have ever gotten. The rooms are quiet and peaceful and the technitions are talented and friendly. It is soooooo relaxing. It's a plus that everything is super clean and sterilized so you can relax and never worry about and weird nail fungus or infections. I would come back every day if I could, just to shop and relax and bask in the wonderful-ness of one of my favorite places! Pros: clean, relaxing, great selection Cons: parking is a hassle, prices can add up more

Absolute BEST Manicure and Pedicure!!! 7/23/2006

I have been a loyal customer at Hands On for the past year and a half and have never seen my nails look better in my whole life!! I love the fact that I know the spa is as sterile as can be. They tell me it is hospital sterile and you can definately tell that it is! Just recently the owners decided to move all of the hand and foot services to the upstairs and expand the clothing and accessories boutique in the downstairs. The upstairs manicure and pedicure spa is like nothing I have ever experienced when it comes to manicures and pedicures!!! There are three different rooms for services, one is reserved for acrylics only! The other two rooms seat four clients at a time and they are so relaxing and quiet. The staff is extremely accommodating and very sweet! They even do manicures and pedicures especially designed for children! The front desk staff downstairs in the clothing boutique are also very accommodating! They always are willing to help with any questions I have about the many designers they carry and what they think will look great with what! They have some of the greatest designers including Jill Stuart, Vince, Splendid, Theory, and the list goes on and on!!! They have everything you need including jewelry, shoes, bag, and of course clothes! I would definately recommend this place to all of my friends and family! I could go on and on about how great it is, but you will just have to go and experience Hands On for yourself and then you will know why I am so excited and enthusiastic about it!!! Pros: Ambience, Friendly Staff, Sanitary Cons: Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but it is definately worth it!!! more

HANDS DOWN FABULOUS - A MUST SEE - A MUST TRY -- A MUST SHOP-- A MUST RELAX!!! 7/21/2006

I have been a client of HANDS ON for 5 years now and am absolutley impressed with all of the changes that have taken place over the course of the last three months -- the downstairs has been completely re-vamped and turned into the most yummy retail boutique (when I say YUMMY I mean TONS of jars filled with candy to enjoy while shopping). Did I mention that they carry some of the most fab clothing lines ever??? Theory, Vince, Splendid, Taka, Jill Stuart, Joes Jeans and a bunch of others!!! (I am in absoloute shopping heaven) The spa itself has been moved upstairs which was a brilliant idea - the treatments are done in three different rooms now overlooking South Beverly and are so relaxing and peaceful!!! The front desk staff is always friendly and willing to help out clients with whatever they may need - one of the girls even ran across the street and picked up a present for my niece before the store closed so I wouldn't show up to her birthday party empty handed!!! I love love love HANDS ON - the amazing MANIs and PEDIs -- and I don't know what the last person was talking about because the owners are really wonderful, nice people!!!! Pros: Ambience, Services, SHOPPING! Cons: Parking can be a bit difficult - lot across the street fills up sometimes more

Rude, rude, rude 4/21/2006

I just wrote a long review that cityseach somehow deleted. Long story short: the rudest place in Los Angeles, hands down. Unbelievable snarky attitude. Not worth it. And it was the owner who was rude! Better to go to your local Vietnamese place, who clearly understand customer service better. Cons: rude, nasty more

don't beleive the hype 2/5/2004

Sure it looks pretty, but the staff is horrible. My nail tech would hardly speak to me and when I tried to be chatty. She just grunted. Finally, I asked her how she liked working at the place and she told me how much she hated it and when into detail about the cookie cutter atmosphere and poor management. An unhappy staff = a miserable manicure. The receptionist looked bored and she couldn't be bothered to answer questions about product. I would not go back. Pros: sanitation more

not as good as i thought it would be. 7/25/2003

i walk in there and ready for my nail appointment and when i sit down the lady has no idea how to do acrilic nails. and i told her 3 times that i wanted pink and white and no tips and she looked at me like i was crazy. she also said it would be $16 more dollars for pink and white. and i was not going to pay $85 for a new set. i will never go here again. besides the nice chair they have that is about all that is good. Pros: nice chairs, nice music Cons: to much money, wrong information, front girl not nice more

worst experience 7/18/2003

This was the worst manicure ever! I paid $76 for full set of fiberglass nails. They look like a five year old child did them. They are bulky, ugly shaped, and I found out most of the staff of this place are temporary....so I paid $76 for what looks like an amateur job. This is the most I've ever paid and the worst job I've ever had done to my nails. The staff sucks!!! more
