Writing this while the undercooked chicken the sent me is getting ready in my microwave. The restaurant is around the corner but it took 1hour and 25 minutes to get it to me. Oh yes, maybe I don't get something about japanese food, but normally teriyaki is served with rice (not to mention veggies) - they sent me three plates of semi-raw meat without anything but an orange wedge. How should I know that i had to buy rice for another 2 bucks? more

I had lowered my expectations for sushi delivery, but apparently not enough. I ended up throwing half of it away - not horrific, but not great. Somewhere between bad and mediocre. more

The order came before the quoted delivery time. Most of the food was hot, but the fried squid appetizer was room temp unfortunately. It was still good. We ordered appetizers: fried squid (good), spinach with sesame (cold dish- ok), teriyaki chicken (good), beef tataki (disliked), two sushi rolls (ok). Cooked rice @ home. Pretty good dinner for take-out. I suppose it is better @ restaurant. Would order similar items next time. Too much food for two people though. Will have to play around with quantity and price (to make free delivery). Appetizer dishes were plentiful and more cost effective if you are not interested in soup/salad (made with iceberg lettuce,,,not my favorite). more

nothing special 6/24/2007

Saw the reviews and thought I would give it a try today (6/24/07). Since it's close to closing, and there were not many sushi boats flowing, I decided not to take the sushi bar. Ordered 3 appetizers, 7 kinds of nigiri (2 pc each), 1 handroll, 1 roll. Fish was on the thin side, and tasted bland. Rice was a bit more. I was really hoping my stomach would be tough enuf when I was downing Uni and Amaebi, which were the Today's sepcials, and didn't taste very fresh to me (I wondered if I fell for the notorious trap, restaurants' Today specials). Gyoza (5 pc) were tiny, but quite delicious. The other appetizers didn't disappoint me, but they didn't surprise me either. All in all, The food was decent. more

Very good sushi/sauces and the sushi chef's are very friendly! Some of the waitresses are a bit ""cold"" but that's OK. I go at least 1 a week and they remember my order. Pros: GREAT sushi Cons: their noodle soup was awful more

Very good quality, even better price! 3/8/2007

I ate here twice while visiting friends it was so good! In addition, very affordable compared to other Sushi restaurants I've visited in the area. Small, quiet and unassuming atmosphere, a little out of the way but worth giving it a try if you're around Sunnyvale. Pros: Great sushi, great price! Cons: Strip mall, blah! more

Nothing fancy but great sushi 11/16/2005

I have been here several times since moving into the area and the sushi has always been fresh and good. The locals seem to already know this little spot since it can get very busy at times but the service is always friendly and prompt. They have sushi coming around on the boats but the chefs will make whatever you ask. Good variety and creative choices. Pros: Very good sushi, variety, friendly service more

fresh and fun 6/30/2004

Hanamaru has become our favorite sushi spot, the owner and workers are always friendly and the fish is always always fresh!! :) I like sitting at the sushi bar and ask the sushi chefs directly what I'd like. :) Highly recommend!!! Pros: fresh fish, friendly staff, great food more
