We almost exclusively stay at Hamptons when we travel. Considering the beauty of Petoskey, we were suprised the hotel wasn't as nice as the countless other Hamptons we've stayed at.
Our first room was in the basement that overlooked the roof of the adjacent building. We were promptly moved to another room. This room was on the third floor. Though billed as a non-smoking hotel, the room reeked of cigarette smoke. The a/c in this room didn't work well either. I woke up several times in the night to the smell of cigarette smoke....not pleasant!
Thankfully the hotel allowed us to move next day to a much more pleasant room.
Yeah, yeah, I know it sounds like I'm too picky but the # of issues we encountered was not typical of the other Hampton Inns we have stayed. Furthermore, to their credit, were very accomodating and professional during all our interactions with them.
