Hammett, Richard, Dvm - Animal Care Ctr

Wonderful staff & service. I'm new to the area & they fit me in the same day I called. My cat (who has a bit of an attitude problem, to say the least) was seen by Dr. Hammett & Michelle who were both wonderful. Dr. Hammett provided a wonderful diagnosis & Michelle even showed me how to give the meds. Great attitudes. It's obvious they care for the animals they treat. Priced very reasonably. I highly recommend these folks!!! more

I think he is an excellent vet, very caring, compassionate and takes the time to know you and your pet. His prices are fair and beat anyone else's around because he doesn't do unnecessary things and gouge his clients. As far as the grooming-- he is a vet, if you want a groomer - cough up the extra ten bucks and take your pet to a groomer- they don't advertise that they do grooming. more

I agree with the review regarding grooming. They should not be in the grooming business what so ever and not quite sure why/how they are. I took my 2 dogs to them over a year ago. Dropped them off before 10:00am and called around 4:00pm, as I had not heard anything from them. Rather than calling me they decided to let the dogs stay in cages at their place all day. The extremely young girl (guessing high school student) did not feel comfortable grooming them. Not because they were uncontrollable (they were the best at getting groomed) but because she didn't know what to do. Only one dog got their nails clipped in the 6 hrs. After keeping my dogs all day, not grooming them and not calling me, they had the audacity to charge me for the nail clipping. I've heard good things about the vet, but they should get out of the grooming business before it causes irreversable damage to their business. more

I don't think they should be "grooming" dogs. This is definitely not something that they are good at. Please do not take your pet to Animal Care Center of Strasburg for grooming. When I called to talk to the office manager about my dog getting mutilated, she was very rude and suggested I d find a new vet. more

I have two Dachshunds who are very precious to me. Dr Hammett is gentle, knowledgeable, and very professional. I have had my dogs in twice once for an acute situation and the other for a routine check up. Dr. Hammett listened when I gave him information and was wonderful with my dogs. I would highly recommend ACCS to everyone! more

I've recently had a "problem child" of a cat who needed special care and attention. When the other vets in the area wanted to give up on him or take an easy route, Dr. Hammett researched his condition and offered advice and treatment tailored for my cat's needs. When we had to make a tough decision, he was there for us as owners as well, he even came in on a holiday to take care of him. more

Fortunately, I haven't needed to take advantage of Animal Care of Strasburg's 24-hr emergency service, but it was one reason I chose this business for our cats' health care. Dr. Richard Hammett and staff are knowledgeable and friendly and will consult WITH you, rather than dictate TO you, about the best care for your pet. I haven't always had that experience with veterinarians. The office specializes in small animal and equine care. They are conveniently located just north of Strasburg on Route 11. more
