I created a Citysearch account just so I could write this review. A spring on my garage door broke on Sunday morning, one of the cables came off the spool and the arm connecting the chain to the door snapped off--all kinds of problems. I left Mark a message on Sunday evening, he called on Monday to schedule the repair, and he had everything done by late Tuesday morning. He came when we were at work, and left an invoice in the garage. He just told me to mail him a check--very honest & trusting! The final price was the same as what was quoted over the phone, and it seems like everything's working even better than it was before. We found out about Hamline Garage from a reference from our neighbors. I have to agree with them that Mark does an excellent job. This summer we had a new garage put in and Mark took the time to discuss pros/cons of different door models with my husband. Then did an excellent job getting the door installed\r \r A couple of weeks ago I unfortunately had my garage remote in my purse which hit the button as I was backing out of the garage and did some significant damage to the garage door. Mark came out right away and repaired the door enough so it would close until the new parts came in for the fix.\r \r He has really been a help and is very professional. Mark at Hamline Garage Door had kept my 50-year old garage door alive and working for at least the last 15 years. Every few years he would come out and replace lost screws, putting the hinges back in place, he replaced springs one time, bills ranged from $35 to $80. When I called this spring and told him I needed a new garage door he just laughed and said, ""Yes, you do. I can't put it together many more times."" A wheel had come off and he replaced it free of charge to tide me over until I could afford a new door in May. (Yes, I did get 2 other estimates both slightly more than Hamline Garage Door's but all in the same ballpark). He ordered the door I wanted and installed it while I was at work. He left a bill in my garage for which I mailed him a check the next day. Less than $1000 for an 18 ft. door with the windows of my choice. It's not an upscale door but it fits my house and humble neighborhood and it is sturdy, well put together. Reliable service people still exist. As we were leaving to drive my son to school Wednesday morning, the garage door spring ""sprang"" off. I thought I would have to wait several days to get the door repaired, and then worry about spending a lot of money. \r \r I found this website, because I know it's a few miles from our house. When I called the phone number, I didn't get a voice mail or answering service. After about 3 rings, Mark answered, and I found out he was the repair person who took all my information over the phone. He didn't require a credit card number, or bank account. He said he'd be to our home within 4 hours, and by the time I finished my errands, I came home to a repaired, very professionally, I might add, automatic garage door.
