The Scene
A Memphis-style lounge in Hartford? Yep. Reminiscent of a 1950s diner from the outside, the lounge's two rooms hold a mixed crowd playing pool and hanging out at the bar. Oldies, jazz and blues set the mood. Don't expect to find microbrews or draft beer here. Corona, Coors, Miller and other bottled beers make it easy to mosey across the room without spilling your drink. Not a beer fan? Ask the bartender to stir up a Long Island iced tea.
The Draw
What sets Hal's apart from other bars is its self-proclaimed "best breakfast and lunch in town." Breakfast is served through lunchtime, so whenever you have a hankering for sausage (they have five varieties), eggs and homemade biscuits, there's no better place to go. Other favorites include Hal's collard greens and real macaroni and cheese.
