Hakone Japanese Gardens are hidden away in the foothills just outside Saratoga Village. The gardens are beautifully manicured and completely flawless. In a sense, if a Japanese garden can be overly perfect, this one is. I found it to be so meticulously manicured that it felt almost "sterile". It was much like visiting a museum and I did not find it comfortable or relaxing. It was beautiful and a great place to appreciate the art of Japanese gardening, but not a place I would spend time in.
