Hair Expressions

I have been Carol's client for about 10 years. Carol Spangler, the proprietor and sole stylist at this charming salon, is one of the most skilled hair cutters/stylists I've ever known... at any price. I made my first appointment with her while my husband was in school for a 2nd career. I was simply trying to save a little money on hair care, opting to leave my former salon where I'd spend a couple of hours and $150 for a cut and color. \r \r I have thick, curly hair that is somewhat unruly, so a good haircut is critical to the success of any manipulation needed to coerce my hair into a reliable shape! She is so technically skilled that she can fashion a flawless haircut from a photograph from media sources. Plus, she is also gifted in assessing the merits and do-ability of any style I bring to her. If it won't work with my hair, she is honest and says so. And Carol always offers alternatives to get the gist of the look I seek! From a technical perspective, I am also always amazed that even when a long period passes between haircuts, my hair still looks like it has a shape... just longer than the original haircut, but basically the same shape! That's rarely the case... after a few weeks, most short haircuts look bad... scraggly and truly unkempt looking. I have no idea how she does it, but Carol's cutting style creates a shape that lasts and lasts! \r \r Perhaps it's Carol's amazingly gentle and open temperament that accentuates her natural hair cutting and styling skills. She's a gem of a human being, so in addition to always getting a great haircut - and sometimes expertly applied color, too - I get an emotional boost, too! She's personable, kind-spirited, and really listens to me - whether I'm talking about my hair or my life! In short, Carol Spangler is fabulous!\r \r As an aside, I echo the sentiments offered by others; that Hair Expressions is a little quirky and no frills, but it is a charming space, just the same. Carol really takes the time to cut my hair right. She listens to what I say about the style and length I'm looking for and then cuts bit by bit until its just right. Generally, she doesn't do my hair too trendy-- which I'm happy about because I'm not a very trendy person. But when I ask for a more flamboyant style, she provides it. She also does a nice job with styling. I've been her customer for more than 10 years. Prices are very reasonable. Carol is the best hairdresser I have ever been to! I had a bad experience a few days ago at Aveda in Chapel Hill and Carol turned their mess into just what I wanted, an easy funky ""brand new me"" hair style! Not only will you love what she does to your hair you will love talking to her about the interesting life she has lived. I am now a customer for life! Go once and you will never go anywhere else again! I moved up here in the fall to go to law school, and I've been dreading the task of finding a hairdresser. I decided to make an appointment with Carol after reading the reviews, and I'm so glad I did! She's so friendly and easy to talk to, and she gave me a great haircut--exactly what I wanted. She incorporated my input throughout the process and didn't let me go until I was completely satisfied with everything. I'm so in love with my hair and have had several people ask me where I got it done. And I paid much less than I would have at a trendy salon. I can't recommend Carol strongly enough--I'm definitely going back! more

I recieved one of the best haircuts i've ever had by owner/stylist Carol Spangler. The salon is no frills but is extremely friendly and laid back.
