In Short
Forming one of only three professional training orchestras in the United States, Symphony in C musicians are paid professionals starting out in their careers. But if you close your eyes, the classical music they play sounds scantly different from what you can hear in a bi city music hall. The casual yet elegantly dressed crowd, comprising many a well-coiffed grey head, also mirrors what you'd see in the audience at the Kimmel Center. This orchestra moved to Camden to take advantage of a permanent performance space in the modern and safe Center for the Arts at Rutgers and has since been filling its schedule with exciting and avant-garde sounding pieces by the old masters like Mozart and Stravinsky. Low ticket prices make this an enriching and inexpensive night out.
