Hey, I think the review which I had the exact same experience as wnancy, they did not completely reattach my engine to the chasis! I had picked it up after having some work done, and at the first stop light I felt a strange bump/bouncing from the front end when i stopped. I brought it back to them and they admitted it!! Then laughed!! ""That Mikie.. he really should have checked that !!"" was all they said. I politely waited while they repaired it, then never took my car back. Since then I have heard many such stories. There are other reputable companies in Albany. It would be safer to try one of them. more

Unprofessional 4/16/2007

Please beware, they smile and seem pleasant at first, but one problem and the atmosphere changes quickly. I drove out of there with my engine improperly reattached to the chasis of my car! Thankfully a friend noticed the situation and we took the car somewhere else to get it properly repaired. more

Old School Family Business with Honesty and Great Workmanship 2/21/2007

The Hackel family is extremely kind and knowledgeable. The Dad, who started the business many years ago is a very nice man. He gave his son the gift of all his knowledge and experiences all those years working on VW's. Young Bobby is very friendly and accomodating (came to work an hour early just to bring me to work) with a great sense of humor. He works with his cousin Mike, who is also very polite. Good People! Their rates are fair and reasonable and the work is done right. This was my first meeting with this business and I was pleased and felt secure with their diagnosis and workmanship. more

THE best place to take your VW for repairs - and to buy one! I've been a customer for more than 15 years and Hackel's remains one of the top reasons I own a VW. Reliable, reasonable service and just nice people to deal with! Pros: Never feel like I'm being ripped off Cons: Drivers try to make u-turns in their lot more

The owner was extremely rude and unprofessional in his behavior and attitude from the moment we walked in the door. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere! more
