This is my complaint as written to the Better Business Bureau: My husband and I found a 2010 Nissan Xterra advertised as an ""Internet Special"" at Gwinnet Place Nissan. My husband and I went to Gwinnett Place Nissan and before even talking to a salesperson we verified that the vehicle we were looking at had the correct VIN for the advertised price. After a short test drive, I felt confident that the vehicle would work for us. So we sat down at the negotiating table and I took the Internet printout out of my purse and said that we wanted it and we wanted the Internet special price. We were not trying to negotiate down at all from the list price. I asked what the car would cost with the list price plus all tax, & title fees. The salesperson immediately said that the internet price usually doesn't include ""destination fees"". He came back with a quote that was nearly $5,ooo more than list price. Included were things like a hefty ""destination fee"" of about a thousand dollars, $395 for ""nitro"" instead of regular air in the tires, a ""processing fee"" of $599 and other add-ons. This was a base model manual shift Xterra! We told the salesperson what our firm price was, and it even gave room for them to charge the ""Internet price"" plus tax and title fees, plus a little extra on the side. Basically, we just wanted to buy the car for what they advertized it for, plus tax and title, and threw in a bit of extra money so that they could make a bit of profit on top of that. The sales manager was incredibly rude. (Chubby hispanic or indian descent man) In the end, they refused to honor the Internet Special advertised price. We walked. I just feel that if you aren't willing to sell a car for what you advertized it for, then that truly is false advertisement and is a gimmick to lure the consumer into being ripped off. This complaint is to help other consumers who will be frustrated about the unscrupulous practices that some car dealers employ to make money no matter the ethics of it. And I definitely prefer to pay profit to the people who made my car buying transaction a pleasure (NOT Gwinnett Nissan). \r
Both the salesperson and the sales manager were slimy and snippy and out for ridiculous (insulting my intelligence and business savvy) profit. (My mother both managed a car dealership & previously sold new Cadillacs. I was not playing by their rules, did not have a trade in, was using my own financing, etc, so they couldn't pad the deal with all the stuff they would have gotten out of the regular joe consumer who immediately just talks ""payment"" at the negotiating table). These people are the ones who give car salesmen a bad name!!!\r
BTW: I bought from Nalley Nissan in Decatur and had a great experience. Go there & avoid the bloodsuckers at GPN!
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: Rude, liars, sharks in chum, watch the inflatable ""extras""
