As in the last review, don't listen to those who are rating this restaurant by the decor or location or the 1 waiter (Owner) of this scrumptious find! After all, it's about why you're there, to eat. I never liked Indian food, but decided to give it another go because my boyfriend cannot exist without it. Tried another Indian Restaurant and still didn't care for it. Again, gave in a month later, but told my boyfriend that we should try another place. Looked on the computer (yelp) and since this ""Guru Palace"" got high ratings decided to go there. Skepticism was on our minds as we sat, being the only ones there! We debated leaving, but it would have been rude after he'd already given us the menus. Ordered, and HOLY MOLY!!!! It was delicious!!! The Chicken Tikka Masala was CRAZY good!! I now have cravings for it! We are now regulars there! Lesson of the Day: Do Not Judge A Book By Its Cover..... P.S. The Owner (Waiter) does warm up a bit in about 5 or 6 visits! more

Don't listen to that shigototatsujin w*nker who gave this place a 3 stars. You don't go to a hole-in-the-wall such as this expecting great service. Yes, the service might be horrible, but here in lies the mystery of the universe. For as abysmal as the service and decor is, this restaurant is a genuine flawless D diamond in the rough. By that I mean, this is possibly THE BEST TASTING Indian restaurant in Orange County. When I think about the exquisite Chicken Tikka Masala I had when I first walked in one auspicious evening and the Vegetable Khorma my woman had, it was like an epiphany. If you've ever had a Tikka Masala at a Natraj (by all means, a rather well known chain) and you had Tikka Masala at Guru, the difference in quality is like night and day. Do not hold the manager/waiter's poor service against this establishment. If I were in his shoes, I would feel like shooting myself as well. Why? Because here I have possibly the finest Indian food around, but nobody wants to walk-in, because the place I could afford looks like a s***hole and I can't afford to renovate my s***hole because I can't drum up enough customers to get the place renovated. I'm surprised this place isn't usually crowded, considering the reasonable prices, good food, and high number of students around. My girlfriend and I go every couple of weeks for lunch, and although we can't say the service is first class, we certainly get more than our $7 worth of North Indian food. We recommend their butter chicken. This place is never crowded, so you can just say hi, grab a plate and start piling on the food. Pros: Cheap and good food.
