My experience there left such a bad taste in my mouth, my next few visits to firearm shops were tainted by the memory. The two men behind the counter were snide, inconsiderate and treated me like a criminal.
I had recently purchased a gun and needed an extra magazine so while I was at work, my new roommate did me a favor and called around to find a good price. That night I went in to buy my magazine with my roommate in tow - looking forward to our first Reno gun shop visit. I’ve been a Nevada resident for almost 6 years and even have a Nevada CCW but because my newly moved roommate was with me I was refused service. I was not only turned away, but given the 3rd degree and made to feel unlawful the entire time. We went to Scheels later that night and were greeted warmly, helped almost instantly and never interrogated. I walked out not only with my new magazine, but also 1000 rounds of ammo and other accessories. Since then I’ve bought firearms at Silver State Arms (near Moana on Kietzke) and US Firearms Academy on Moana near Virginia – both locations had great prices and helpful/courteous staff that made us feel welcomed and appreciated the entire time.
Whether you’re a new buyer or experienced shopper Gun Trader would be the last place I’d recommend.
Pros: large amount of guns
Cons: Rude, accusatory staff with bad attitudes
