This wasn't a great store, the staff wasn't helpful, the selection was poor, and the prices a little high.

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/12/2013

The number one guitar shop in Durham county. For being open on Sunday, or after 5 PM, or having more than 5 guitars, or for having items at half the full retail, this is the only choice you have. It's run by a mega company and maybe you won't love every employee like you love ole Mr. Smith that has his mom and pop store with nothing to see and closed at 5. We are extremely fortunate to have a GC here because most folks buy off the internet. Here you can at least still try out stuff, hopefully they will be in business a few more years before all we have is internet. more

Too loud in the 'loud' room 1/2/2010

My son and I sat in the loud room as we have done on many visits and began playing several of the guitars that we had not yet played from our last visit. To our amazement we found a very nice Explorer / amplifier combination and were discussing the numbers amongst ourselves when we were told to turn the amplifier down because the manager needed to make a call. Now understand we were in a 'loud room' with the door closed playing a 5-watt amp on 2. Normally we wouldn't have been bothered but the staff was reluctant to retrieve the guitar we wanted, told us to be careful because someone from out of town was coming on Monday to see it. Bottom line I'm using Musicians Friend or Sam Ashe because this isn't the first time that the sales people/manager have treated me with a lack of respect. Pros: Location Cons: Staff more

The Walmart of Guitars 12/17/2009

If you are a novice guitar player or think you just want to get started -- or maybe your mother and father have $150 to spend and want to get junior started on a piece of junk with a cheap amp -- then this is the store for you! The helpful and hairy staff are more than happy to sell you a guitar that will stay hopelessly out of tune and is destined to gather dust hanging on the wall at Roopy Roger's downtown pawn shop. The staff here are not helpful and will not call you back about special orders. If you are a true musician and looking for high end instruments, this is not the guitar store for you! Seek out some of the independent dealers in the area if you want to be treated well by fellow musicians who care about quality guitars and getting you started the RIGHT WAY! Pros: They have a soft drink machine Cons: Very few high end guitars more
