Grumpy's Restaurant

We stayed at Grumpy's as a last resort because we had to evacuate a day earlier than planned due to Hurricane Gustav (evacuated from Southeast Texas). When we arrived we almost decided to sleep in our cars, but it appeared to be almost more dangerous outside than inside. There was black mold growing above one of the beds, water stains coming down the wall above the windows, the toilet and bathtub looked and smelled as if they had never been cleaned, and the water from the sink came out yellow. It was disgusting. The sheets looked as if they had never been washed either. They were put on upside down and one set had what appeared to be urine stains. I have never seen anything like this in my life and we will never use this place to evacuate again. more

Not sure why they call it Grumpy's, because they always seem happy when I go there. Great biscuits and gravy, big fluffy pancakes and even good enchiladas and steaks, for your dinner. Right off I10, so you barely have to pull over for a great meal. The hotel next door is decent also. Not luxurious, but hey, you're in the middle of nowhere. more
