Good Old Fashioned Gun Shop 2/16/2014

I recently purchased a long gun from Grouse Perch, and I have to say it was a breath of fresh air to see a good old fashioned gun shop that had anything I could want in hunting supplies. The owner was very informative and a pleasure to talk to. The purchase was very smooth and straight forward. His dog was great. I will be going to his shop for all future hunting related purchases, even though I live a bit far away, it is well worth the trip. more

great friendly place ...... love the dog .... gives the shop that good old mom and pop hunt and gun shop..... great advice and a joy to buy from ... will have my business over and over again more

The Real Deal 12/2/2011

I have been to the Grouse Perch many times over the years. If it were closer to me it would be much more often. In the past I have put things on consignment there and I feel the owner is fair and very knowledgeable. Giving him one star because he has a dog is more a statement about the reviewer than the Grouse Perch. He has been there many years and his shop is like an extension of his home. It is his place and one should show respect as such dog or no dog. If a friendly dog is truly a problem you should go to a big box store. If you want anything special or want to buy or sell used firearms or appreciate locally owned and operated businesses go to the Grouse Perch. more

If you ask him to call the dog he will do nothing about it.\r \r It seems that he wants you to pet the dirty dog on its head and say its a nice dog.\r \r I don't stop there any longer. The North Cove Outfitters in Saybrook has more and no dogs. more

A hunters paradise 11/10/2005

I just visited this store the other day. A friend shops there frequently, so I got his a gift certificate. This place is a hunters paradise. Located just behind the Sunoco Station on your way to the Old Saybrook Train Station Depot. Having never been in there I did not know what to expect. But they have everything from hunting riffles, decoys, outdoor gear & clothing, to rustic home furnishings and accessories. I even bought myself a nice painting from a local artist while I was in there. The staff was very helpful and toured me around the shop since it was my first time there. I was very impressed with their service and their prices. more
