This is the type of agency (we find out now) that Adult Protective Services warns us about. They use sub-contractors, thus limiting their liability when abuse occurs. We have not seen a written policy about accepting financial gifts from elderly clients. Put those 2 together, and it's a recipe for disaster, as we found out the hard way. Our elderly mother's dementia has been progressively getting worse over the last 2 years. We live out of state, and trusted her live-in caregiver to take care of her needs, as Griswold professes to not put anyone in a client's home they wouldn't have in their own relative's home. Well, her caregiver avoided seeking appropriate treatment for her diminishing cognitive abilities and chose instead to trick her into writing numerous checks, often doubling and tripling her monthly salary over the past year and a half. We have filed a police report, and are told that once the caregiver is convicted, Griswold's insurance will pay. Well, wish us luck with that, as the San Diego sheriff's department is pretty backed up with cases like this. We are at wit's end to figure out how to get this HUGE amount of money back so mom can use it for her care while she is still alive.
