Greyhound buses are one of the few mass transportation methods to get home from Ithaca. I took the bus several times and my girlfriend took it up a bunch when she was in law school in New York City and wanted to come visit me.
The buses themselves are clean and comfortable. Leg roomis decent, although for those tall people, it might be a bit tight.
The great thing about Greyhound is that they have at least three buses leaving everyday to and from Ithaca. That gives people a lot of flexibility if they have to get somewhere.
The bus terminal is in downtown Ithaca, but the buses also stop in Collegetown and on North Campus in Cornell. Price is fair, although it isn't something you want to do every week. The trip from Ithaca to New York is probably around five and a half hours due to a stop in Binghamton.
