scruzan69's post is a lie 4/25/2008

Scruzan69 is a former employee of Grey Wolf Computers, and is in fact the ""manager"" who lou3d mentioned. He left the company on bad terms, and is trying to draw business away from Grey Wolf in the hopes that he can create some business for the computer shop he is currently trying to start out of his house. It is my opinion that it was his brash personality that led to his departure from Grey Wolf, and not his lack of technical ability, and it is for this reason that I ask you to consider his review as what it is, a childish attempt to undermine an ex-employer, with whom he had personal conflicts with, for the purpose of his financial gain. more

Same bad experience 3/5/2008

I aslo took my pc to this company on recommendations. My internet was slow and I had popups. I figured it was due to spyware/adware, but didn't want to take on the cleaning process myself figuring it wouldn't cost too much to have it done ""professionally"". I called ahead and was told they would do an evaluation for $45 and would contact me afterwards to explain what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix. Three days after I took it in, I received a call and was told I had a bad hard drive and a major infestation of malware and that it would cost $350 to fix. I said I would pick it up and did not authorize repairs. When I arrived to pick it up, I was handed a bill for $75. I asked why it was not the $45 evaluation I was quoted and was told that in the process of evaluating it, some repair work was done. I explained that I did not authorize any work to be done and therefor should only be charged for the original $45 evaluation. I ended up having to talk to a manager to get them to charge me the $45 originally quoted and was left feeling like I had ripped them off somehow (the implication in tone coming from the Manager). Needless to say, I took my pc home, spent a couple of hours cleaning the ""malware"" out myself and will never go back to this company. By the way, it has been about 4 months now since this happened and my ""bad"" hard drive is still working like a champ. Pros: parking, location Cons: improper diagnosis, bait and switch, rudeness more

a fluke?? they totally shafted me 8/24/2006

My original review (8/25/06) was deleted by accident. Synopsis: Was highly recommended by friends.Brought in a slow-moving, pop-up ridden computer. Was quoted $75.00 to diagnose and remove viruses/malware/spyware. Was told the viruses, etc were removed but there were problems with my OS and repairs were recommended. I said I'd look at their recommendations, to not do the repairs (estimate of $780.00). I was told it was ready for pickup. The computer is not assembled, had to wait while it was put together. At home, computer would not boot(no prob before). Could not contact them as it was a holiday weekend. Friend of a friend looked at it and found that the hard drive was disconnected, floppy was misaligned and was being held on by one screw and there were viruses still viable. He repaired everything for $40.00. GW would not refund me $40.00 and blew off my complaints of shoddy work and ""bait and switch"". 8/13/08 BigK2 mentions scruzan69 as the ""manager"" that I talked about. I did not mention any manager in my review. My correspondence was with the owner, Michael Gardner. Update: I had complained to the Aptos Chamber of Commerce, and the county DA with no results. Perhaps this ""disgruntled"" employee was the person who intercepted and replied to my second ""final notice"" letter and forged Michael Gardner's signature on the reply letter while intercepting and disposing of my first letter. This still does not explain the sloppy technical work, the disabling of my computer, and the outrageous repair estimate. I believe that I am still entitled to a $40.00 refund (notice that I am not nor ever had insisted on being reimbursed the original $75.00). Pros: parking, location Cons: be careful of rip-off schemes more
