Awesome fancy and fast food. It's basically a small shack that has 2 picnic tables outside. Everything...

My top candidate for most overpriced & worst value for your dollar. The food is nothing to write home about, and many people are simply romanced by the presence, personability, a...

Tasty and pricy french 4/7/2006

A very tiny location, though if you are in the area you have probably been assaulted with its delicious aroma wafting out of its windows. Plan to eat your meal elsewhere, as what little seating there is is almost always occupied. My favorite is the Cajun cod sandwich, which is very tasty with a tiny, spicy kick. None of their dishes are overbearing in flavor, and feel light and healthy (though that’s doubtful.) I wasn’t so impressed by their famous fried potato balls, but they are unique so definitely give them a try at least once. more

as stated - 'finest take-out' 10/8/2005

This is a great little hole in the wall- literally. With no seating inside and 2 wooden benches outside Gregoire is gourmet takeout food. Their signature dish has got to be the deep-fried mashed potatoes. The light crispy coating is what makes this such a treat with each bite. I've also had a few of their sandwiches which taste very fresh. It seems to be another local favorite in Berkeley as many people came in greeting the owner and staff as if they were regulars. Their menu seems to rotate each month but I've always seen the skirt steak sandwich on there - which I had to try today and found it to be okay...perhaps not worth $7 but reasonable considering the choices. I definitely recommend Gregoire if you're in the neighborhood. more

French takeout that hits more often than misses 9/28/2005

First, a disclaimer: I've only had lunch at Gregoire's (I'm on a student budget, so I haven't splurged for dinner, which is about twice as expensive), so my review only applies to the lunch offerings. There is something about Gregoire's that keeps me going back. Maybe it's the sight of fresh, organic ingredients being expertly prepared in the closet-sized kitchen. Or those hexagonal cardboard boxes that every sandwich or salad comes in. Or the ever-changing menu, which is completely re-written every month. In any case, I make it a point to stop by at least once a month to try the latest offerings. They're not particularly filling as far as sandwiches go, but they're usually good, sometimes great, and rarely just OK. more

Little Restaurant, Big hit 7/1/2005

Though there is never a place to sit (considering they have only 2 outdoor tables), Gregoire offers gourmet food that is great and reasonable priced. The chef is local attraction and dons a strawberry beanie, a beard and a smile. You can smell Gregoire’s aromas as you approach the mini-restaurant as they always cook with their windows open. Think your favorite to-go burger joint but instead with spinach and goat cheese more
