There is nothing like baseball on a warm summer night. My friends & I go to Sounds? games several times a season. This review is on Sluggers, the sports bar on the 4th floor. This used to be a great place to go at 5:30 when the gates opened to get dinner before the game that starts at 7pm. It used to be first come, first served and you could get in and out of there with no problem. That is no longer the case. Last night I stood in line outside the gates before the park opened. At 5:30 my friend & I went directly to Sluggers. We found all of the tables on the glass (the best seats) with reserved signs. The tall tables a couple of steps up from the glass were also reserved. That left only a few tables open for the early birds. Those seats & the bar stools filled up within 15 minutes of opening. The HUGE problem is this. The wait staff goes through the whole restaurant to take drink orders. They will NOT take food orders until everyone has at least one drink. While I am early and ready to order my drink & food as soon as I see a waitress, I am forced to wait. Then it takes 30-45 minutes to get my food. By that time I am wolfing it down because I want to get to my seat in the stadium before the National Anthem. Not only that, the people with the reserved seats can waltz in at any time and get their drink & food order taken immediately. There were several people who came in after us, ordered after us, but received their food before us. This poor service strategy was in effect last year as well. At one time Sluggers was a great place to start the evening. Now it is stressful and I will not spend my money or waste my time there.
Pros: Free parking, fun small town feel, fireworks after select games
Cons: Sluggers restaurant, old seats, expensive concessions
