The Greek Theatre, located on the outskirts of the UC Berkeley campus, is home to live performances in music, theater, and dance. It is an open air amphitheatre built entirely out of stone and seating upwards of 8000 people. It was obviously originally designed to resemble the ancient Greek amphitheatres, but this aspect adds to the overall charm of the venue. Recently I attended a rock concert at this venue, so I can say that the Greek is one of the better venues in the East Bay. The stone seating is kind of a setback (obviously no cushions in a Greek-inspired theater), but nobody ever sits down at a rock concert anyway.
