Greek Islands Restaurant West

This family-run restaurant specializes in Greek classics. The menu leans heavily towards seafood and lamb. The specials are a great deal and the portions are huge. The wine list is varied and affordable. Some of the servers are less enthusiastic than others (Opa!), but the environment is fun and friendly. The wait is usually shorter than the host says, even on a Friday or Saturday. One of my wife and my favorite restaurants. more

Greek Islands is by far my favorite restaurant in the Chicago suburbs. I've been there with my husband and parents, on my way to the symphony and just having come back from a long day of shopping-- every time, I've been made to feel welcome and completely at home. Every time we've gone, the parking lot has been packed, but don't let that discourage you. The seating capacity is surprisingly large, and an estimated twenty minute wait usually ends up being about ten. The food and atmosphere is upscale casual. The wine list is impressive, if you're looking for affordable but delicious wine. The lamb is divine, and all of their appetizers are quite tasty. Ultimately, your experience depends on your server; we've had unbelievable service most times, but once we got stuck with a "dud" waiter who didn't seem to care about our table. Overall, though, it's a fantastic restaurant with reasonable prices for wonderful Greek fare! more
