Greek Flame Taverna

I can agree with alan9799...i have been there on many occasions as we only live in winter park which is 5 minutes away . we have only been to the old location where i find that the size of the salads always vary i guess it depends all on whos cooking, they also charge for a few cucumbers or some slices of onion i mean its ridiculous...sometimes the meals come with bread and sometimes they dont. I have asked for bread before that comes with their lambrolls but they say that it does not come with it when it clearly states in the menu it does, then some days i get it. The owner i assume usually sits behind the bar. watching his greek television shows. Although its not bothersome but when we are trying to enjoy our meal the tv is blarring and isnt a comfortable to talk and listen to the news at the sametime. I hear there is a new location but have yet to try it personally. Good friends of ours have said nice things about the ambience but the food portion was terrible. Maybe this is why they moved. more

After having visited on three previous occasions I looked forward to a fourth dinner visit. When we arrived we were told to sit anywhere,we were not shown to our seat. We ordered a large village salad. It arrived much smaller than usual and without greek olives. The feta cheese was almost non existent. At sometime during our meal the manager or owner decided to drown out the atmosphere by turning the tv to fox news,not pleasant! I can only hope someone is listening. We love this restaurant. My wife and I have eaten at Greek Flame Taverna five or six times and have always enjoyed it. We spent 10 days in Greece over the past summer and felt like the food was as good at Greek Flame as it was in most restaurants in Greece. In addition, they have a nice wine selection. We have mostly been there for lunch, but have tried a few different items. They have great salad, saganaki, gyro, mousakka, spanakopita, and dolmades--to point out what I remember. Lunch is also a great value and the service I have found to be warm and friendly. As of now, we've been in Orlando 8 years, this is our favorite Greek place. I had been looking for a decent bowl of avgolemono and a tastey gyro for years. I live very close to The Greek Flame and decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in I felt unwelcome. There were many friends/family standing around talking and watching tv and they ignored me for a good 2 minutes while I looked at a menu I picked up myself. The workers looked at me like I was crazy and I felt very uncomfortable...I figured once I sat down things would be better. Not quite. They continued to look at me like I didn't belong there. I ordered my food and tried to ignore them. The ""avgolemono"" they brought out to me was some incredibly over peppered chicken broth with little to no lemon in it. The egg was totally broken and floating at the top so I could tell it had been on the burner for quite a long time. Not only that but they had celery and carrots in it! Then I notice instead of rice, they use orzo..which would have been alright if they weren't so overcooked that they turned to mush as soon as your tongue touched them. It was the most awful bowl of soup i've ever had. Not only was it NOT avgolemono at all, it was DISGUSTING. Next came the gyro...they forgot i wanted xtra tzatziki and no onions..oh well. I ate it anyway and it was OK...the meat was undercooked and they wrapped it so awful i had to take it apart and put it back together correctly. The Greek Flame Taverna had to be the most awful restaurant I have ever been to..not to mention the worst greek. And coming from someone who lives in Orlando with a million other horrible greek restaurants..that's saying a lot. Pros: Close, Lots of Parking Cons: Ambience, Food, Service, Price more
