Heirloom Saved! 11/10/2010

I just brought home my original Heywood Wakefield upholstery wing back chair, which I had restored at Brandt and Whitney Furniture Restoration. This chair belongs to my family for many decades and it has considerable value both monetary and sentimental. Needless to say, before I made my decision about where to bring my chair for restoration, I spent good deal of time searching the Denver area for the best. For a couple of years I was asking my friends and co-workers about their experience with different restoration companies and still didn't feel confident enough to entrust such an important piece to anyone. The big problem was that most of restoration companies know how to do just one of the types of restoration, either repairs, or refinishing, or reupholstery. But my old chair needed ALL of the above. Besides, one of the runners was broken a few years ago and unsuccessfully repaired by another so called expert . Fortunately, one of my co-workers told me about this guy, Dan at Brandt and Whitney Furniture Restoration, who did great job of restoring of her antique living room set, and she gave me his business card. Then my neighbor's mother told me she had used Brandt and Whitney to do many projects for her and was always very pleased with the results. First, I checked his website, which was simple and informative enough to make me comfortable to make a phone call. Our phone conversation was pleasant and I decided to meet with him personally. First I met with him in his Englewood store then we visited his production facility and furniture factory Great Western Furniture Manufacturing. I understood that I was in the right place. They had many pieces in production as well a large area of furniture restored and ready to be delivered. What a beautiful job. So, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. When I brought my wing chair, we spent more than an hour discussing the way it should be restored and what kind of material may be used for the upholstery. I felt very comfortable not being rushed and having the opportunity to ask as many questions as I wanted. Dan's staff knows a lot about furniture and he suggested using the leather, similar to the original. He has a lot of samples of different fabrics and leathers, so I finally choose the color of the leather I liked. Matt also recommended replacing the worn down chair glides on the bottom of the legs with a new one. After discussing all the details Boris gave me an estimate and the leading time to finish the job. I found both of them very reasonable. A few weeks later, when I was on my way to their Denver facility, I knew that I would be happy to see my revived family heirloom. Boy, I was shocked when I saw it. It looked better than I ever expected. The old saggy seat was restored to a very comfortable and nice looking one. Amazing job! From now on Brandt and Whitney are my guys. Whatever needs to be restored in my home will be done at Brandt and Whitney Furniture Restoration. I highly recommend this company for any antique restoration needs. more

Designer's Choice 7/7/2010

I'm a designer and very picky about who I out-source my designs to, as the end results are a reflection on me. My customers demand the very best, and so do I. Another designer recommended Great Western and so I decided to try them. They were able to build and upholster a love seat and ottoman within a very short time frame (my customer was thrilled that they could meet his somewhat unreasonable expectations), and the end result was as perfect as if they'd had months and months to complete the job. Everyone on the staff was helpful and professional, and did everything possible to accommodate me and my client. I plan to use Great Western for all my future business. Pros: Everything more

Beautiful Custom Upholstery 3/4/2010

I'm so happy to see Great Western Furniture back in business under the ownership of Dan Whitney (Brandt and Whitney). Their custom made upholstered furniture is beautiful and has now expanded to include some of Dan's more modern designs. I have bought several Great Western pieces in the past...chairs, sofa and a sectional...and all are still in excellent condition. I am now having a more modern style sectional made and can't wait to see the finished product. Highly recommended! more
