Top shelf pizza ~ but skip the sides 2/15/2010

Do your tastebuds a monumental favor and order a mouth-watering pizza. But save your wallet the unnecessary bucks and don't order a skimpy side. The pizza is so amazingly flavorful and filling that the other menu items should be embarrased to be there. You'll still have leftovers for days. more

Totally craveable 7/30/2008

Best crusts I've ever found anywhere! You can seriously get stuffed on a single, delicious slice. But be prepared to spend up to a hour and some serious cash if you order a whole pie. Worth it as an occasional treat. more

Honey on your pizza?! 12/13/2005

Yes, that's right. This locally-owned pizza joint was made popular by serving honey with their crust. After you've put away one or two pieces, save your crust because this whole-wheat delicacy tastes great dripping with honey. You'll probably leave several pieces on your plate, however, because each slice nearly weighs 2 lbs. What a helping of Heaven! more

THE place for GOOD pizza in Ames 9/2/2005

If all you want is some cheap pizza and you don't care about quality, don't call Great Plains. But if you want delicious pizza with a range of crusts (wheat is my favorite, especially when you add honey to the crust), Great Plains is the place to go to or call. The best value is to go to the restaurant (located on Main Street downtown) and get a slice at lunch. Even if you have two slices and a soda, you can still eat well for well under ten dollars. more

For those who like to shell out 7/16/2005

First of all, Great Plains pizza is really good. The toppings are always top notch, and their thick whole wheat crust is wonderful dipped in honey. However, expect to give up a limb to aquire such pizza. At about 60% more than a Pizza Hut pizza, Great Plains is going to set you back. Save this one for when the parents come to visit. Despite the good food, the restaurant itself is dingy and hideously-decorated and the service staff seem to be always hurried and under-appreciated (read: don't expect charming service). more
