The lighthouse up the block was recently restored and while small, it has a great amount of history in it. If you're visiting the Museum, without the lighthouse, then you're robbing yourself!
The tour is short, but includes a trip to the top of the lighthouse, as well as stories of it's creation and duties.
The actual museum includes a lot of history and views, as well as information on the local folklore and the difference between Mackinack, and Mackinaw (They're pronounced the SAME)
There is also a giftshop with incredible souvenirs, which are also pieces of art with Indian histories. You'll see how different people and cultures inhabited the area and lived together.
