The Scene
A bright, window-flanked front dining room with sushi bar gives way to an up-lit bar decked with glowing, sepia-toned, fishing-themed photo art on walls. Diners who opt for the more intimate dining rooms in back find fishing regalia tucked into niches, wood and high-backed booth table-combos donning brown butcher-paper and piped-in jazz music.
The Food
Fresh seafood catches with simple preparations is the main focus, but Americana-inspired meat and poultry dishes woo landlubbers as well. Chicago sushi restaurant Kamehachi, is in residence offering fresh nigiri, sashimi and maki mono. While the simple, spicy tuna roll is pristine, the fiery popcorn shrimp--served in a paper bag alongside Tabasco-spiked ketchup and paper-thin onion straws--is memorable. Not to be missed is the shore cookout, a gussied-up, beer-battered fish fry presented in a kettle atop onion-spiked, sliced potatoes with still-crunchy corn and drawn butter. The simply presented, pint-sized root beer float is reason alone to save room.
