I have mixed feelings about this spa. I had the earliest possible appointment scheduled for my facial. When the staff arrived 15 minutes before my appointment to unlock the door, the man was pleasant, but the woman appeared tired and only managed a weak "hello" and tentative smile. After climbing the stairs to the spa, the woman took her place behind the desk, and I handed her my SpaFinder gift certificate. She said she had never seen one like that before and asked me to wait while she figured out what to do. In the waiting area, which was separated from the desk by a curtain, I could hear her expressing concern to a SpaFinder representative over reimbursement for the facial. It made me very uncomfortable. After she got off the phone, the woman explained to me that Greenleaf is a small, "mom and pop" spa, and she just didn't know how to handle a gift certificate that had been printed off from an email. I wasn't sure what to say and simply followed her to the room for my treatment. As it turns out, this woman was also the aesthetician. While ambiance is not critical to my experience, I was very disappointed with the atmosphere at the spa. When I laid down on the table, I found myself staring up at ceiling tiles with large, dark stains on them. Then, the woman returned to the room and began the treatment. She didn't ask for any information about my skin and didn't give me a consultation, which is something I very much enjoy at spas. During the treatment, the steam used to open my pores was pointed directly at my nose and mouth, making it difficult for me to breathe. Also, my face was scrubbed rather vigorously with towels at several points during the facial, and I felt like it was a little harsh for my sensitive skin. The most enjoyable part of the facial was the massage part. The woman was clearly trained in massage therapy as well, so it was wonderful having her rub my neck, shoulders, and hands. I also really liked the mask she used on my face, and she did a great job with extractions. Regardless of the negative comments I've written above, my skin looked and felt great when the facial was over. I think Greenleaf might be a better option for massage and waxing if you don't mind the ambiance. The woman was much nicer when I was leaving, so it's possible she's just not a morning person. If I return, it will probably be for a different service, and I will absolutely make a later appointment.
