What a wonderful restaurant. Had dinner there during Christmas holiday and I can see why they are busy. We ate in the ""dining room"" and had a great meal. This is the place that the locals eat as everyone seemed to know eachother. I never find that at a chain restaurant. They also have a ""family room"". The staff was very friendly and helpful. The staff also told me the restaurant has been open since 1955. They must be doing something right! Look forward to my next visit for the nice fresh food!\r \r Back in El Centro and ate at Grassos again this May. Had a special called Tomatoes and Onions with Bleu Cheese crumbles. Best I EVER had. The manager said the tomatoes and Onions are grown in the imperial valley and only have them for a few weeks. Grassos is our go-to restaurant in El Centro and look forward to next time. Thanks Grassos and keep up the good work more

Be careful! I got sick there! 12/7/2008

This place has been around for awhile, and many years ago, I went with friends, but I got sick from the food. Pros: The ravioli tasted good. Cons: The place is too dark, there is something in the food that's too strong, not a good value for me more

Best around for a long time 10/1/2005

Grassos has been around forever. It is a family tradition that we love to go to. The food is the best, especially the italian salad dressing. Lots to choose from on the menu, but I tend to have my favorites over and over. Pros: nice people, lots of choices, love the food/salad Cons: may need reservations, not open for lunch more

  • Grasso's Italian Restaurant has been in operation since 1955. For over 50 years only 2 families have owned Grasso's.. Two sisters, Jacinta Grasso and Blanche Fornasero, built what is now ?the family room? on the back of the Grasso home in 1955 in order to serve the finest Italian food in the Imperial Valley. Over the course of time, the entire house was converted to include ?the dining room? and a storage area. The Baran family bought the restaurant in 1976 and have continued to own and operate the restaurant since then?using the same authentic recipes and adding some of their own?.and, yes, we are still in the same house at 1902 West Main Street in El Centro?the house is just a different color! Grasso's Italian Restaurant has become an ?AN IMPERIAL VALLEY TRADITION? and we look forward to welcoming you to our family and be part of our tradition.
