Grandfather Mountain Campground

Found this campground online, Beautiful view of Grandfather Mountain from the grassy meadow,that is the only good thing about this campground. This campground has 2 laundry facilities on premises, the laundry room that had working equipment they decided to close for the winter. The other laundry room with 2 non-working dryers they decided to leave open all winter(Makes Zero sense to me) We have notified management about this issue and they said we are the only ones that have complained about it(The dryers have printed Out of Order signs on them) So it seems no one cares! The main problem here is Laziness on the Management/owners part...they live within the campground in a house and don't seem to care about anything but recieving there money for campsites....There are also 3 bathhouses at this campground, The nicest/cleanest one they also decided to close for the winter along with 1 other bathhouse...So the only Open bathhouse is not handicap accessible and is unkept, dirty, missing t more

We had a wonderful time here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We tent camped for 4 nights, went to Grandfather Mountain and hiked to McRae Peak one day, went to Hawksnest for the zipline course another day (real good time there too). Also went to see the original Mast General Store, it's close by also (Amazing place) Our tent site had Grandfather Mtn. to our back and the mountainside with Seven Devils and Hawksnest to our front. The mountainside was beautiful at night, with the lights shining like stars. It was hard to tell where the mountain stopped and the sky started. They have some tent sites that are down by the creek that are hidden if you want privacy. Good deal at $20.00/ night for a tent site for 2 adults, plus $3.00 for extra adults. For that you get showers, laundry facilities and on Saturday night they had a local band come in and play family friendly music for about an hour. We went camping here with our family and we enjoyed it very much. There is so much to do for all ages. This campground is perfect for when you just want to get away from the city and relax. The views of Grandfather Mountain are great. more

MY WIFE AND I STAYED THERE THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS TO DO SOME SKIING. HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS AND THEIR "DELUX BATH HOUSES" WERE ANYTHING BUT DELUX. THE LOCATION, SCENERY AND PRICE WAS EXCELLENT THOUGH. WE WILL PROBABLY LOOK FOR AN ALTERNATE CAMP SITE IN THE FUTURE. Pros: CLOSE TO PRETTY MUCH EVERTHING. Cons: THE BATH HOUSES WERE THE DEAL BREAKER. more

Grandfather Mountain campground is located off Hwy 105 near Boone, NC. From the campground you can see Grandfather mountain and the face in the mountain. The campground has cable, a playground, and a stream. They stream washed the entrance bridge out last hurricane season but they have now built a new better bridge. This is a good family campground. If you go camping here bring a coat it gets cool in the evening and overnight even in the summer time. more
