My husband and I were in town and I wanted to take him and my mom somewhere special for dinner since we were celebrating his birthday and seeing mom. Through the internet, I found Grande's. We were seated and waited several minutes before our server Chris (195) to arrived. Mom ordered Veal Saltimbocca and Pinot Charles KR wine, my husband had the Lasagna and I had the vegetable Lasagna. Knowing food is specially prepared, we didn't mind the wait but our salads didn't arrive. So we asked another server that walked by if she could find Chris and ask him about our salads. Dinner arrived and still no salads. So we asked Chris why we didn't get them and he said you "only get salads with the early bird meals." Knowing this was not correct, we asked the hostess to please let him know. He came back to the table and asked if we still wanted the salads with our meal and we said yes. By that time we were all a bit annoyed. Honestly, if not for the horrible service, I would've raved about this place. The food was excellent. The final insult to injury was I was only able to eat half my lasagna; Chris asked if I wanted it wrapped. I did, so he took it. We waited forever to get asked if we wanted dessert, which we did. We ordered the Torta di Chocolate with a candle for my husband's birthday. Then again, we waited forever for the dessert we shared. Again, it was delicious. We then waited forever for the check. We left and 1/2 way home, I realized Chris never brought back my left-over lasagna. Obviously, this server was new and not able to deliver the type of service (yet) that you would expect from an upscale restaurant such as Grande's. As a result I would not recommend Grande's. With the economy being the way it is, if I'm going to spend that much money on a meal, the service needs meet that standard as well.
