We brought our precious Persian kitten to this location as it is convenient and had a good reputation, but the practice was taken over by another vet. She seemed nice and knowledgeable during the initial vist - she assessed the kitten and found nothing wrong with him, so we didn't have any reason to fear bringing our kitten back to be neutered there. We brought him in on the scheduled day; he was sweet and playful the morning we left him with the vet for his surgery. If only we'd known we'd never see him again.
We received a call that afternoon flatly telling us that he DIED during the procedure. The vet said that he was underweight for his age and that maybe he had a heart defect. We were stunned as the kitten never exhibited any behavior consistent with heart or respiratory disease - he was a cheerful, energetic, bright-eyed kitten, had no heart murmur or any indication of anything wrong with him. after we had a little time to recover from our tear-stained shock and horror, we started wondering WHY. Why didn't the vet do pre-op testing or if she did an examination and found that his weight was abnormal, why didn't she inform us of any concerns, why did she go ahead with the procedure and give him a powerful anesthetic if she even had any concerns about complications? We would have said don't do it yet - run some tests, anything - but she never gave us the opportunity to find out if something was wrong. Maybe there was nothing wrong with him - maybe he received too much anesthesia - who knows? One thing we're certain of- we will never set foot in that clinic again, and would recommend to others that you take your precious babies elsewhere.
