Great Plays and Theatre 9/12/2005

This theatre has so much character and uniqueness. It is an old theatre that has been updated. The bathrooms need a little more updating though. I have seen about 15 plays there through the years. The actors and stage are excellent. Only once did we see a musical that was pretty boring. They also have a "childrens theatre". Fun plays and musicals that both kids and parents love. more

Watch out for the bat! 8/13/2005

The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre puts on several performances each season with local actors. The plays are well done, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is festive - a fun evening of entertainment! If you're "lucky" the theater bat will circle around the ceiling during the performance! The only problem at the theater is the parking - you will either have to pay or walk. more

Gr civic theater 7/29/2005

I have only been to the Civic theater one time but I enjoyed the experience very much. The Civic theater is a local group that does various plays and musicals. The local talent seems to be above average the the show I saw was excellent. Parking is one of the major drawbacks of the Civic theater. It can be tough to find a parking spot if you don't know where to look. more

Community Theater that delivers 7/26/2005

The Grand Rapids Civic Theater is home to locally staged productions of plays and musicals. These productions are a uniquely homegrown affair, using local talent and volunteers for nearly all areas. During the holidays last year, I caught their production of Scrooge!, which is a musical production of Charles Dickens classic. It was a very entertaining and well-acted show, not to mention the lady friend who accompanied me was very impressed. Parking can be a bit tricky down there if you’re not familiar with the area and the neighborhood gets a bit seedy if you walk south several blocks. Other than that, it’s a wonderful way to spend an evening. more
