The Grand Rapids Civic Theater is home to locally staged productions of plays and musicals. These productions are a uniquely homegrown affair, using local talent and volunteers for nearly all areas.
During the holidays last year, I caught their production of Scrooge!, which is a musical production of Charles Dickens classic. It was a very entertaining and well-acted show, not to mention the lady friend who accompanied me was very impressed.
Parking can be a bit tricky down there if you’re not familiar with the area and the neighborhood gets a bit seedy if you walk south several blocks. Other than that, it’s a wonderful way to spend an evening.
