The Little Guy Does Best 8/17/2005

Still holding on after all the years and under new owners this theater brings in an eclectic selection of indie and late nights. A community feel and run mostly by volunteers, everyone that works and goes is passionate about it staying alive. It's unfortunate that it's not in a more supportive neighborhood, with classic theaters not being a main goal or drunk frat boys. more

Tiny and Eclectic 7/2/2005

The Grand Illusion is a tiny theatre that shows some very obscure movies. The last movie I saw here was Reefer Madness with a special screening of Sonny Bono's 1970's anti-drug public service announcement. The theatre was almost lost several years ago, but friends and neighbors of the theatre pitched into save and restore it. There's also a cafe attached to the theatre. more

nice theatre (and name) 6/30/2005

I'd probably like anywhere named after Jean Renoir's masterpiece! This is a good movie theatre that sometimes runs older foreign films that don't have much of a chance of running at most other theatres. It's a nice place to see movies and there's a little cafe with good food inside too, so you don't have to eat bad popcorn and overpriced candy like at the megaplex... more
