I had an ablation (which I would not recommend to anyone, but especially not if you have had C-sections, tubal ligation, or ovarian cysts) through another doctor and developed side effects of blood-filled tubes and cysts on my ovaries. Had surgery with another doctor to take care of pain on the right and then suffered all year do to continued problems on left referring pain to the right. The other doctor was going to do a total abdominal hysterectomy as an open procedure with up to 8 weeks recovery. Dr. Gratkins was able to do as a closed (laparoscopic procedure) despite all my adhesions and scar tissue. He does the latest and greatest techniques and helped me quickly when I was desperate to get it done to help with my father during my father's last days. Could not recommend more. more

I have been going to see Dr Gratkins and Laura for more then 15 years. I have not seen another gyno nor do I want to. I am pregnant with my third and they have been there for all of them even the ones I have lost. I feel very supported and he makes me feel at home every time I go. He explaines everything when I don't understand and he does not mind that I want to involve my other 2 girls with the baby process on this one and they take the time to talk to them and help them understand how the baby grows. They are like family and the staff is great! Pros: they know me even when they don't see for a year Cons: have to drive 45 mins. more

Dr. Gratkins is the best, I've gone to him for everything since I was 18years old. He was doing clinical work at U of I and my first annual was painless and he makes me feel comfortable right when he walks in the room. He's up on all the new procedures and when something is amiss the way he talks about it is calming. I'm lucky to have found him - and so will you be.\r \r Even though I live in the city now, I still run down to Bloomington for my annuals. That's how good he is. Pros: Valet service at the hospital, little wait room time, great staff. Cons: For me it's a 100 mile drive, but he is definitely worth it. more

it was a horrible experience and very bad staff. very very painful painful ............ you know what I mean ! No appointements available even for emergency and even if they give you one after long waiting time you will wait for hours. I usually was taking the day off to be seen! He did surgery on me and I felt the terrible pain but I could not move or even talk as he injected me with a muscle relaxer but not enough aneathethia. I could hear him laughing with his other staff and guiding his students through the operation. Is this beacuse I was on a medical card he treated me like that but he was getting paid, he could say no from the beggining and I m not supposed to be an experiment ?! I have a new OB now and my baby too but I really wanted to share this experience with other women so every one should be highly cautious and alerted. more

Be exteremely careful. The doctor is busy with other stuff and leave you to midwife and student trainees.He is busy also making money which is important than his patients. He performs many tests without taking your consent or even tell you about and you will end up paying those out of your pocket. If you have more than one insurance carrier be extremely careful because he will double charge the insurance and make extra tests for the sake of money. Be very careful. Good doctors are every where but its more important to have honest and caring one but this doctor was not . He did not even get the time to apologize or explain. He has also auwful very defensive staff. I paid for the unnecessary tests out of my pocket and hopefully you are not strangeled in this trap as I did. more

Dr. Gratkins is the best OBGYN in the world. He had a full patient list and still took me in when I had a horrible experience with another OB. He is a very good OB when it come to high risk pregnancies. He is AWESOME!!! more

I would recommend Dr. Gratkins & Laura and their staff to anyone!! more
