Graduate Hills Apartments

I've been living here for 2 years already, and can't wait to leave. The place is infested with bed bugs and cockroaches. Very basic accommodations, no dish washer. The neighborhood is dull and boring, no to mention dangerous! (some months ago a couple of students were assaulted right in front of their building... it wasn't too late either, it was ~6pm-ish). The personnel at the leasing office is incredibly rude, and probably also racists (at least americans seems to have a good relationship with them, but foreign students are not treated equally). Every month there are useless inspections that serve no other purpose than violate your privacy. Please consider some other place. more

Thats not always so bad! Especially if youre a grad student, cheap is good! but yes, the place could use some updating. for example... all the bathtubs are probably from 1912... they spray paint them to keep them from looking nasty. heres a tip though. paint, when wet, flakes off, then looks more disgusting than ever. At first I thought, ew, this is so nasty, i'll never be able to take a bath here... but, eh, I've had them come paint it a coupla times.... its not getting any better. so now i've gotten used to it and yes, I do now take baths in the tub, while huge flakes of paint float around me. They are putting in internet that will be free, horray! it'll be done for fall semester crime is really bad, i've had my car broken into, and we're always reading about somethign bad that happened, but the people here are really nice,and the staff is nice and helpful, its a great place to live ifyoure a grad student, and don't like bathing in paint chips. more

they only rent out to graduate students and faculty at the university of maryland. if you're not one, then you have to get someone to sponsor you. the prices are fair, but there is a lot of crime come night time. the place is crawling with muggers, but on the bright side, there are lots of immigrant families living here and it is very easy to make friends. also, every week there is some sort of moving sale, so it's a good place to live if you like buying things and also having a quiet place to study. more
