Governors Club

October 26 2013 wedding at the Governor's Club. Lisa Johnson Director of Sales and Catering at the Governors Club and her staff are top notch. The venue is beautiful. The grounds are magnificent and the terraces and areas used during the reception are breathtaking. She assisted in many ways while the girls were getting ready. One bridesmaid's dress had a zipper malfunction and she went above & beyond leaving to go find needle & thread. Despite several last minute cancellations the reception exceeded our expectations. The cocktail party was raved about by family & friends. Drinks were strong. The hors d'oeuvres were grilled chicken wrapped in bacon(chicken was a large piece wrapped in one piece of bacon), Brie with raspberry on pastry shell, BLT on toasted rounds and potato asiago rounds (which were to die for) The photobooth was a good addition and kept it flowing. Lisa worked well with Steve Stowe our DJ (from Joe Bunn) who also works at Classic rentals both were extremely helpful with the rentals of the black chiavari chairs, linens and black & white dance floor. Food presentation at each station was very elegant. Chef's at each station were knowledgeable and personable. We did an asian station complete with stirfry and everything imaginable beef chicken & shrimp, which was made to order for each guests, mexican station with chicken & beef as well as an array of cheeses and toppings, shells and tortillas, italian pasta station with 3-4 kinds of pastas (the cheese tortillini was excellent) He would stirfry a pasta dish customized for each guest adding chicken or italian sausage fresh spinach, artichoke and many other veggies as well as cheeses and sides , beef tenderloin carving station A+ as beef was like butter with a fresh caesar salad , breads. Guests commented that the taste and tenderness of the beef tenderloin was superb. Of course my favorite was the shrimp & grits. The shrimp was prepared fresh and grilled on the spot and added to cheese grits with many toppings. Everything was just so fresh and custom and the lines moved. People returned for more and they never ran out of anything. I know there is a negative review on the internet but that is before Lisa Johnson joined the staff. Just want to clarify because had I let that one review sway me it would have been an epic mistake! Since she has been there, everything is perfect start to finish. Our daughter got married on Saturday, January 19, 2013 and we held the reception at the Governors Club. First of all, the venue is located in a stunning setting in an upscale golf course community. All through the planning process, our main contact, Lisa Johnson, Director of Sales and Catering at the Governors Club, was a pleasure to deal with. After we agreed on the format and signed a contract, Lisa and the chef went out of their way to make changes to accommodate our needs.\r \r In the final week before the wedding (in spite of Lisa coming down with the flu), significant changes were made to accommodate the size of our reception due to a higher than expected invitation acceptance rate. When the big night arrived, the presentation, food and service were wonderful. All of our guests went out of their way to say what a nice reception it was and how good the food was.\r In summary, the actual reception exceeded our expectations, which were already very high. more

I had the pleasure of returning to Governors Club this month and this time it was for our corporate holiday dinner. The event was wonderfully planned by on site coordinator Lisa Johnson. The food was amazing and the service was perfect! I always leave anticipating my next visit. Kudos to the staff for making each and every visit a memorable occasion! In a time where exceptional customer service seems to be on the decline, Governors Club is a refreshing and welcomed experience. more

I was married just three days ago (10/20/12) at Governors Club (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception) and couldn't wait to get on here to write a review. My daughters wedding on Sept 1st, 2012 at the Governors Club was nothing less than perfect. Lisa Johnson and staff helped her have a wedding personalized to meet her every wish. Requesting a completely gluten free menu was accomplished with guests not even aware of it. ""Amazing, beautiful, wonderful food, and best wedding I have ever been to"" - were some of the comments of our guests. From the cocktail hour on the beautiful outdoor patio, to the spacious elegant reception room, we could not have picked a more perfect venue. My husband and I had our reception at the Governors Club in November 2011. I can honestly say for the both of us that our reception at the Governor's Club was even better than we could have ever imagined. Lisa Johnson is phenomenal! She was amazing to work with from start to finish. Her ability to really understand what you want from your day and turn it into just that is invaluable. Every question we had (and we had A LOT) she had an answer for, and she even had answers to questions we didn't know we had yet. Her suggestions for vendors were perfect! Chef is amazing as well, the food was awesome. It's been over a month and people are still talking about how great the food was. He is wonderful to work with and really developed incredible creations based on our initial interview. Overall our experience with Governors Club was exceptional. Based on other receptions we had attended we expected some hiccups but not here, everything went perfect! I think we are both still in shock at how wonderful the day was and how elegant and memorable our reception was - it certainly exceeded our expectations. We would definitely recommend having a reception here! more

Our daughter was married at the Governors Club in December 2011. As we were looking for venues that could accomodate our guest list of 300, we discovered Lisa Johnson and the Governors Club. What a lucky day for us!! We walked through the doors for that first meeting and were not only greeted by the gorgeous facility but by the very friendly staff. Lisa was fantastic to work with, start to finish. Everything we asked of her was answered with ""Sure, we can do that! "" and ,boy, did she deliver!! Oh, and the food!!! Chef Ben is amazing! Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything tasted! He was so attentive to every detail, not only was the food delicious but it was beautifully presented. The staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful! Planning a wedding can be so stressful. I cannot thank Lisa Johnson, Chef Ben and everyone at the Governors Club enough. Because of them, I was able to walk through the doors on the day of the wedding worry free! more

My husband and I were married at the Governors Club in November 2011. We had approximately 150 friends and family in attendance and each of them had nothing but positive comments about the event. There has not been a day to go by that I don't think about our wedding day and I cannot imagine a more perfect venue for us to celebrate our union. The Governors Club wedding coordinator (Lisa Johnson) was on top of every detail and worked hand in hand with us and our wedding coordinator to ensure everything was perfect for our big day. Lisa was not the only person to go above and beyond. The entire staff worked hard to ensure everything was in place and that there were no problems. The food was exceptional, the staff was friendly and helpful and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Our guests are still contacting us with positive comments about the entire event and I am sincerely thankful to Lisa Johnson, Chef and the entire Governors Club staff for helping make our wedding day a dream come true. I have no regrets and look forward to the opportunity to host another event at this lovely venue. more

You hear the phrase ""exceed the clients expectations"" used so often and Governors Club took it to a new level. Our daughter's wedding was flawless and our guests continue to email us with every compliment imaginable. Lisa Johnson was a joy to work with from start to finish with great attention paid to every little detail. Every request we made seemed no obstacle and just seemed to happen. We held our daughter's wedding at GC on June 4. The outdoor setting for the ceremony was perfect and the reception was wonderful. The most complementary superlatives from our guests continued to be heard for days after the event: classy, beautiful, just perfect, etc. Lisa and the GC staff were great from initial planning to execution on wedding day. Why are there not six stars here to give Lisa Johnson and her staff at Governors Club? Our wedding there was right out of Camelot. My wife and I felt like royalty all day long and several of our guests told us it was the best wedding they have ever attended. That is thanks to the professional staff at Governors Club and its versatile facility. Ours was a rather intimate event, but the attention we received was not impacted in any way by its size. Every couple should be so blessed with care like this. more

We had a perfect wedding reception from start to finish at the Governors Club on October 23, 2010. We decided on this venue for our reception because of two major things, one we were the ONLY wedding there and knew all attention would just us for our special day. Two, Lisa Johnson the event coordinator, she went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. During the 9 months of planning, Lisa was there every step of the way, she was extremely professional and remembers every detail. The golf course greens made a wonderful setting for my pictures. As for the food, it was outstanding. Many of our 170 guests complemented the crab stuffed shrimp and lobster bisque. Both sides of our families are still receiving rave reviews on our wedding reception, we are so happy that everything turned out so perfect. more

We had a fabulous wedding and reception at the Governors Club on October 16, 2010. Lisa Johnson, event coordinator, is the reason we chose The Governors Club as our wedding venue. As the mother of the bride, I wanted a beautiful setting for my daughter's wedding but just as importantly I wanted to work with people who were professional, prompt, and courteous. Lisa met with us many times during the 7 month engagement. She was responsive to our every request. The food was outstanding, the weather was picture perfect and our 150 guests are still raving about what a special wedding Lauren and Wes had at the Governors Club. Make sure and ask for Lisa Johnson when you check out the Club for your wedding venue. You will not be disappointed. She is awesome! more

I would like to take this opportunity to commend the entire Governors Club staff on providing us with an exceptional experience for our wedding reception. We could not have asked for anything more. The service was impeccable. Every detail, no matter how small, was thoroughly covered. Lisa Johnson, our event coordinator, was on top of everything following through on every single detail. The banquet staff made all of our guests feel truly welcomed and very well taken care of. The ballroom was absolutely gorgeous, along with the whole presentation including the fabulous dinner. The following day we enjoyed a wonderful brunch, which again was top notch! We started our search for a wedding/reception venue in April of 2010 and after we visited Governors Club and met with Lisa Johnson, we knew our search was over. We did check out a few other places in the Triangle, but we felt that the Governors Club was the right fit for us. We held our ceremony and reception at Governors Club last weekend and we couldn't be happier with the way that everything turned out. We made a few trips to the Governors Club between April and October for food tastings, planning meetings, and creative design sessions. The staff was so accomodating and welcoming each time we met with them. more
