Overview
This imposing mass of buildings is either the aesthetic high point of downtown Albany or an ugly blot on the skyline, depending on whom you ask. Either way, it's a unique structure and definitely worth a visit.
The Experience
The best features of the Plaza are outdoors. On a sunny day, the Plaza's reflecting pools are a great place to enjoy the weather and people-watch. Stretching from the State Capitol Building to the Cultural Education Center (which houses the State Museum, Library and Archives), the Plaza consists of the 44-story Corning Tower, four smaller Agency Buildings, and the Meeting Center known locally as "The Egg." The Meeting Center contains two auditoriums and is a popular venue for music, dance and drama.
