Mangialardi currently remains at large.\r \r Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said that on March 5, Reese Kimmel, president of Harborlite Distribution Corporation of Hillsborough, told the prosecutor's office that an alleged bad check had been issued to his company. Kimmel advised detectives that a firm called Mangia Specialties, Inc., which was allegedly doing business as Gothicstone Tile of Conshohocken, Pa., has an account with Harborlite for trucking services. Gothicstone is allegedly owned by Mangialardi, \r \r Kimmel also told investigators that Gothicstone allegedly has a current outstanding account balance of $36,000 owed to Harborlite. In late Sept. 2008, Kimmel allegedly told Mangialardi of the outstanding balance due and requested payment. \r \r According to the prosecutor, Mangialardi on Oct. 30, 2008 allegedly provided a check in the amount of $10,000 as a partial payment, and told Kimmel not to cash the check yet because the account could not cover it.\r \r During the course of the next four weeks, Kimmel allegedly emailed and telephoned Mangialardi numerous times about the status of the check and whether he could deposit it. At the end of November or early December of 2008, Mangialardi allegedly told Kimmel by telephone that the check could be deposited. On Dec. 3, 2008, the check was deposited and allegedly returned for insufficient funds. \r \r According to authorities, Kimmel then attempted to contact Mangialardi by letter, email, and telephone regarding the outstanding balance, but his messages were not returned. Kimmel reported that he attempted to redeposit the check three to four additional times and all the attempts were allegedly unsuccessful. \r \r A prosecution investigation revealed that bank records for the checking account from which the check was drawn allegedly did not contain sufficient funds to cover the $10,000 amount. On March 5, a detective spoke by telephone with Mangialardi, who allegedly said he would pay Harborlite for the returned check. Many promises were made by Karl to order and deliver stone for our pool patio. It was delivered nearly three months after it was promised and only because I called the company repeatedly. Karl's promise to provide a vanity countertop, as part of the deal, remains incomplete since May 2009. Now, the company owes me $4-5k in refunds for the return of unused material. Karl has not returned numerous calls and is avoiding me. Strongly recommend finding your stone someplace else - it's too bad, he has high quality material.
