I visited Gossett Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in New Braunfels, Texas to have a routine removal of my wisdom teeth. For my visit, they recommended that I have someone accompany me so that they could drive me home afterwards; I took my boyfriend.
Prior to surgery, while I was being consulted by the dentist, he told me ""you're too young to have a boyfriend."" When he found out my boyfriend's name, Nick, he asked me ""what happened to Mario?"" He was apparently making a joke about my heritage - my last name is Rodriguez and ""Nick"" is apparently not an ethnic name.
I let this slide at the time, even overlooked the smirk he had on his face after surgery when he was introduced to said boyfriend. However, today I was scheduled for my follow-up consultation, a consultation that his office called to confirm just 4 days ago -- I have the date and time written down in addition to our verbal communication of the appointment when I originally visited: Friday the 18th, 11:30 AM -- and five minutes before I walk out the door... they call to ask me where I am, why wasn't I there at 11, and to inform me that the surgeon left at 11 for the day.
Being that my insurance paid for the visit and the follow-up consultation was part of that, I guess Gossett Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in New Braunfels, Texas just got some free dough, because I sure won't be returning there for a rescheduled follow-up, I'll just pay from my own pocket to ensure I don't have any dry sockets.
I wonder if his Latino and African-American employees mind working for someone who seems a racist?
