Great Beer, good Fries 7/13/2008

This place has pretty good brews and you should check out the featured brew. If you go here you should at least have the famous garlic fries, and have some of the beer. The service is usually pretty good, and the inside gets a bit loud so be prepared for that. The patio is significantly quieter and you can see local summer events sometimes. I have eaten there many times and I have had consistently good experiences. Oh, the only gripe I have is the bathroom is not in the venue, but outside and leaves much to be desired. Pros: Beer, Fries, Burgers are good too! Cons: It gets loud inside. Thats it! more

Trashy staff people, decent food 3/14/2008

We came here for a group lunch, and I was astounded at how trashy the servers looked! Perhaps it was just the lunch shift, but I am put off when the wait staff have greasy hair, numerous piercings, and all look like high school dropouts. The food was okay, good selection of items. One person got their fish (mahi mahi?) burger, and it looked delicious. My pasta was not very good, I would not recommend it. I was looking forward to going here as I love beer and was considering coming back for a happy hour, but I would not return here again. Cons: trashy wait staff, bad food more

A Great Brew Pub In A Great Location 4/23/2007

The Pasadena Gordon Biersch is nestled in a busy alleyway with a movie theater, other restaurants, and trendy shops. Pros: Draft Beer, Garlicky Fries, Ambience Cons: Can Be Noisy more

Awesome on-tap beer selection! 11/22/2006

I came here on a date once and quickly realized I'd have to come back to try more of their beers. I tried a pear ale that was light and not too fruity. My chicken skewers were tasty. Their cajun pasta was decent. I'd come back. more

Great Asian chicken salad 7/27/2006

Very tasty salad! But I also ordered the roasted garlic & chicken pizza...NOT worth it, very taste-less. I like this place though, because originally we were going to go to Cheesecake Factory, but the 25-40 minute wait had us out the door in a second. We found this spot in a really cute location, with a great patio, lots of seating space & no wait time. Waiter was sorta cheesy but fairly attentive and nice. Recommended! Pros: Salad, lots of space, no wait time Cons: Pizza more

Smushed for dinner 2/16/2005

The food was not worth the wait. The Martinis are the only drink worthwhile here. If you're in dowtown Pasadena, try another restaurant. I was relieved that I didn't have to pay the bill. My fries were smushed. Pros: martini Cons: food, beer more

Nice patio 1/16/2005

It's a great location, very good service, but the entree items we ordered were very bland. I would come again for the fun atmosphere, beautiful patio. Just stick to conventional menu items, like burgers and salads. Pros: Service, Patio more

Great Martinis 7/22/2003

The best dirty martini in Pasadena!! Never have had a problem with the service either. They have a great patio. more

spotty service, yummy fries 12/29/2002

The garlic fries are very good. But if you sit on the patio, good luck getting a server to take your order before the prerequisite 20 minute wait at your table. The first time I went there I had to enlist the help of a manager to get a server to our table and then watched a group of three women at the table next to mine do the same. The second time I walked out after 15 minutes of just sitting there. Cons: service more

Food yes...beer maybe 7/14/2002

The food is pretty good considering this is a brewpub. I suggest the filet mignon medallions or the peppersteak. The burgers are probably the best value on the menu, very large and fresh toppings. The beer is alright, but nothing to rave about. The service can be spotty. I have been here several times and the service is usually ok, but the last time we waited 20 minutes and no one even came by...and we were seated right by the kitchen door! We left without ordering. more

There is always the beer.... 6/28/2002

I like this location the best because of the patio but the food is not consistent. I've had good meals and bad but because of the price I'm not happy when the meal is bad. It is fun though, when you come with a group and enjoy the beer and maybe some appetizers. I especially enjoyed the beer sampler so I could try several kinds before I ordered a pint. Pros: Beer, Beer, Beer, Parking okay Cons: Food inconsistent, Service slow more

Sit Outside 6/13/2002

If you want to relax after work this is the place. Sitting on the patio is a must! The steak is the best thing on the menu. Pros: Steak, Beer, Never a wait more

Can I have some food with my Garlic? 6/13/2002

Ok, I get the idea that garlic makes beer taste better, but come on people lets not get carried away. The food is ok, it all tastes the same.. fries w/garlic, chicken w/garlic, steak w/garlic, oh and beer with garlic. I do like the patio but that's about it. Go for the beer and skip the food. Pros: beer Cons: food more

It's all about the Beer 6/12/2002

I highly recomend the beer sampler, the food is good but nothing to rave about. The Medallions are a good choice with one of the seasonal brews. The patio is a great place to get your Friday evening started. more

Beer Good, Food Okay 5/20/2002

The appetizers (dumplings, calamari), burgers and salads are just fine at Gordon Biersch--it's the entrees that swing from tasty to tedious. We've had meals where everything was just fine, and others where the beer was all write home about. Best to save G. Biersh for a balmy day, when you can sit on the patio with no other expectations than a pint or two and a snack. more

Can you handle the fries? 5/16/2002

The garlic fries are QUITE garlicky. Don't mess with 'em if you aren't expecting that. As for beer, get the thickest, darkest one they have. more
