Never stayed in a log cabin before but was very impressed. We arrived quite late at night as all lodging actually in big sur were full & we had to carry in driving in the dark (not good!). The staff in the shop were very friendly & although had cashed up for the night still sold us some wine & water. more

It is not a luxury resort 3/28/2011

We really liked Gorda Springs. It is not a luxury resort, but if you enjoy old buildings and feeling like you're getting away to your family's vacation cottage from the 30s, then you'll have fun here. more

I stayed there a couple of times 3/24/2011

I stayed there a couple of times. The location and the view is spectacular -- stunning views, ocean, and the mountains. Make sure you get a unit with a terrace and ocean view. more

Stayed in 'Palm house' and liked it very much. Its very spacious, comes with a guest room and a huge deck with a nice ocean view. more

The palm house is just fine 3/21/2011

Stayed in the "Palm House" twice. Stick with that one and it will be ok. Don't know about the small rooms above the store seems like they are not so nice from the comments. I like the Lamas and the hike up the mountain. The palm house is just fine - no tv, no phone, no cell, but hot water, fridge, shower and a great view and electric. more

While checking for accommodations 3/17/2011

While checking for accommodations driving down the coast, I left my handbag at the hotel. I was in a panic! But Betty at the front desk held on to it for me and was a courteous professional. I am so grateful for her honesty and concern for their guests. Thank you Betty!! We will be certain to stay with you the next time we are in Northern California. more

All in all although the price was top dollar, we enjoyed the stay, and the slightly quirky atmosphere and decor, the location is great, and if you join in with the local vibe you will have a good stop over, give it a try. more

treated to the BEST service 3/14/2011

My wife, grown daughter and our grandson were on our way to camping last weekend and stopped for dinner and were treated to the BEST service we have ever had and very good food at a very reasonable price. The waiter was super attentive, creative, funny and kept our 3 year old grandson quite entertained. The restaurant was delightfully decorated in somewhat of a nautical theme that included a 12 ft. long jaw bone of a Humpback Whale! We ate the specials, my wife had a Cobb Salad and my daughter and I each had a delicious ravioli dish. My grandson was served a custom made grilled cheese sandwhich and a delicious glass of hot chocolate. I highly recommend spending an hour or more at the Whale Watcher Cafe in Gorda, Ca! more

I stayed at Gorda Springs Resort last weekend 3/10/2011

I stayed at Gorda Springs Resort last weekend. It was a wonderful expierance. I stayed in the Palm House. The innkeeper was very nice and helpful. The General store was great. The ambiance was so wonderful. Once I stepped foot on the prperty.,, I did not want to leave. The views and grounds were really special. The lovely farm animals were a real treat. It is a great place to get away from it all. The room was rustic, very clean and nice. I would definetely stay again I just wish I had longer to stay. It truly was a retreat type atmosphere! more

We adore Gorda Springs and can't wait to return 1/27/2011

We adore Gorda Springs and can't wait to return! Our cabin (and every other location at Gorda) had an incredible view of the bluest ocean and most stupendous sunsets. The staff is extremely hospitable and made us feel so welcome that we didn't want to leave. And every meal we ate at the restaurant was impeccable! Thank you and see you again very soon!!! more
