I am unemployed and have no health insurance. I learned about the Good Samaritan Medical Clinic from my parents [my father is a patient of Doctor Sam Stone, who started the clinic apparently]. I have high blood pressure [untreated], and believe I have had high blood pressure since at least 2003, as that was when kidney issues started.
My father spoke to Dr. Stone on 8/24, during a doctor visit, regarding me getting into the Good Samaritan Medical Clinic. The clinic requires that a patient have proof of income for Everyone that lives in the house, plus copies of 2 utility bills. My father asked why it was necessary for me to provide his personal info [as I am staying with my parents]. Dr. Stone told him, ""tell him not to worry about that, just go to the clinic.""
That Friday, the 28th, I went to the clinic. I was told I would need to be put on a waiting list. I told the women in the office what Dr. Stone had said and they did not seem to care. They took my full name and address, told me I would hear from them in 3-4 weeks, and I left. Now, today is the 6th of October and I have heard nothing from Good Samaritan Medical Clinic.
What kind of country do we live in where one can't even be seen by a doctor in a Free Clinic?
Pros: None come to mind
Cons: Can't be seen by a doctor
