Fun but Crowded 1/17/2006

This bar boasts a fantastically "kitschy" chinese-influenced decor, a la 1974. Red velvet wallpaper, lanterns, and dark wood accents give the Good Luck Bar its simultaneously quirky and mysterious ambiance. The crowds really start packing in the later it gets on weekend evenings, so come early if you'd like a booth. I recommend any of the blended drinks; go ahead and get festive! more

  • This convincing old-time Chinese dive keeps the musty mystique going with hanging paper lanterns, carved-dragon ceiling panels and big mirrors. A beautiful, keyhole-shaped doorway leads from the main bar to the back room, where would-be opium smokers lounge on low, comfy chairs and couches. Loud, romantic music ranges from Frank Sinatra to Al Green, perfect for imbibers on the prowl. The full-color folding matchbooks are among the best in town.
