I went here after hearing co workers talk about Dr. Gooch and staff. I went to get my teeth cleaning in April (my normal time) and got a bill from my dental insurance for things they didn't cover in a cleaning. They charged me for services that I had never seen before in a cleaning. Basically I owed 75 bucks for a teeth cleaning that is always covered 100% by my insurance. Nothing had changed with my teeth, just came for my bi-anual cleaning. I wasn't too thrilled about that.
At the end of my May my bridge cracked slightly and I saw Dr. Gooch. He explained there were 2 options, I could have another bridge put on but would have to file down my teeth and put fake teeth over it or I would have to have implants done. He sent me to see a specialist, Dr. Kent, that specializes in this. I got there and they told me they were going to charge me 200.00 for xrays b/c insurance didn't cover it. I told them that Dr. Gooch had the Xrays but they needed ""different xrays"". They ""recommended"" it (of course they did, they wanted my 200.00) so they could really see my teeth and know if I was a candidate for implantation. I went ahead and paid the 200.00 and the xray indicated that I might be a candidate for implantation but they would have to do a bone graph because I didn't have enough bone (which Insurance didn't cover and cost 2,500.00 per tooth (I needed 2 fixed) on top of the 4,000.00 (8000.00 but insurance paid half, for the implant ) for the implantation procedure. They also said the right side was very limited in space so that could also be a problem. I explained I would look at my options and get back to them. I scheduled a follow up with Dr. Gooch after my visit with Dr. Kent and I explained I didn't want my teeth permanently filed down. I wanted another porcelain bridge/veneer similar to what I had. He said it wasn't the best option. He then told me that they could move my teeth on the right side to create space for the implant but that would cost another 3,000.00 (of course insurance didn't cover it). I basically asked him if he thought I was made of money or something, because for a ""Christian"" person he surely wasn't thinking of the financial aspect of it for his patient. I ended up calling the Dentist that orginally did my bridge and he recommended a new procedure similar to what I had except it was more durable, and had much less complications and looked identical to my teeth! I researched it and it had fabulous reviews. This Dentist was Dr. Thomas Dudney who peformed the procedures and guess what?! It cost $3000.00 for BOTH teeth to be fixed instead of a whopping 13K for my teeth. Thank you Dr. Gooch for making me explore my options and find a better Dentist. For those of you, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Thomas Dudney. He is honest, he isn't out for your money, and he truly cared about my questions, answered my questions honestly, and overall a great Doctor. Why Dr. Gooch didn't tell me about this procedure, I'm not sure (but based on his ""options and suggestions"" he wanted my money), it was exactly what I wanted and cost was much better.
