IDO NOT GO TO GOLD'S GYM. READ ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE BEFORE YOU RISK IT. Let me tell you about my experiences with this horrible establishment. First, I went into the gym to have a look around and speak about membership prices. For the next four days after my visit, I was almost harassed by one of the membership salespeople, Steve, who called me 12 times the first day, 10 times the next day, 10 times the day after that and finally 5 times the day after that, at which point I answered and told him to stop calling because I was studying for midterms, which I had told him from the beginning as to why I wasn't immediately signing up.
Then, I decided to give them another try and signed up with an appointment with a personal trainer who then double booked me and canceled my session.
After that, (I only kept trying because I live very close), I went in one more time and had one of the worst experiences I have ever had anywhere. I met with another personal trainer and when we were about to work out, I asked her what I should do with my belongings. She told me I should put my iPhone 4 and my keys at the front desk and they would hold them for me. When we got back from the workout, I went to the front desk and was handed my keys but not my phone. I was quickly ushered into the back office and told to use their phone to call my mom to make sure the membership was okay (also, while Mo, the manager, was trying to sell my mother on membership, he told her how much I weighed, which is very private information that I didn't want her to know). They were having me sign membership papers until I finally said, I need to have my phone before I do anything, at which point they told me it had been stolen. I started panicking because I need my iPhone for my job as well as for the duties I have as a research assistant, for which I got hired because I had a smartphone. In addition, I had just put my credit card number on my phone before going to the gym so that I could sign up. I filed a police report and hurried over to Capitola Mall, where I was forced to max out my credit card and purchase another smart phone. The next day, I woke up at 8:30am to go and speak to Al, the owner. He was apparently busy so I left my phone number and a message to please call me. By 2pm that day I still hadn't heard from him so I called again, only to find out that he was off at the store so I left my phone number again. At 5pm I called again and he had left for the day. The next day, I called twice between 10am and 11am, both of which he was busy until I finally just went into the gym. I asked to look at the video footage, which the managers and the employees said that only he had access to, but he claimed that he didn't have any video footage of the front desk. I then nicely explained to him that I am a student with very little income, that I am extremely responsible with my belongings and have never had my iPhone lost or stolen in five years of owning it and that I felt he should replace my phone. He rudely said, that's probably not going to happen because he ""wasn't even there."" And told me that I could take him to Small Claims Court and ended our conversation abruptly.
