great customer service 10/6/2009

I have purchased two insturments at Baton Music (an electric guitar for my son and an accordion for myslef) and had my acoustic guitar worked on there as well. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. The only drawback is that the store is small and selection is limited, but they will order anything you want. I love this place. Pros: helpful, knowledgeable staff Cons: small store more

Musical Instruments and more 8/17/2008

Baton Music is one of the oldest and most respected music stores in St. Louis. They have a vast collection of music and also have instruments that students can rent. more

COOL OLD GUITAR STORE 4/4/2008

a good store for a collector like me--bought 4 guitars from there so far-- I have to admit the guy knows his stuff--some really odd instruments of all kinds--like kingston, yairi, teisco, gretsch, hagstrom with an occasional gibson or fender some other weird random guitars and most of them well used and priced okay--some low end stuff mixed with nicer things here and there, if you dont mind scratches, some good deals-- seems like stuff comes and goes pretty quick--pays cash money for used stuff even if its broke--sold all my old junk to them Pros: pays money for almost anything Cons: closed on sunday more

Some nice instruments and good service 4/4/2008

When my son needed reeds for his saxophone, we went down to Baton Music to get them. We were not planning on making any major purchase but my son found the same saxophone like the one he plays at school for much less money than that place in Kirkwood was charging. Well, after talking to a very nice gentleman and him patiently answering all of our questions, we decided to purchase the saxophone and we are very happy with it. Service was very good. Pros: Good customer service Cons: Tiny store--too crowded more

Best deal in St Louis 4/4/2008

I went to the loop for dinner recently and amazingly i found an old Martin acoustic guitar at this place with a split on the back that i got for a killer price. The guitar had just come in trade and i picked it up for $350. It still plays great and the split doesnt affect anything but the value which is close to $1000. I will definitely go back there and highly recommend it. Pros: Might have a few gems Cons: No parking close by more

Very cool old instruments... 4/4/2008

Cool vintage music store, great memorabilia and some really old guitars and stuff at pretty good prices. I was impressed with all the signed pictures from the 60's and 70's. I think the owner said they have been there for over 35 years. I bought a nice Fender strat that was a steal... occassionally you get lucky... Pros: Some good bargains Cons: Kinda small more

Bad experience 6/29/2007

They don't carry many instuments, so my friend who went with me wasn't happy. I was looking for Sheet music for a class, but I soon was also disappointed as the selection of music was average and they didn't have what I needed. All this was made worse by the fact that the staff was rude. The sad thing is that is wasn't a high school kid with poor manners like you might expect from most retail outlets, it was the manager or owner who we found rude. I won't be surprised if this place goes out of business. Pros: Good location Cons: not much selection and the help is rude more

What is this place? I don't even know... 1/15/2007

They sell music books and...a bunch of random instruments that looks like the owner made them in the shop's basement. Sometimes they have an occasional used instrument that doesn't look like it was stolen and the original brand scraped of and replaced with an unknown one. Cons: instruments? what instruments... more
