After searching for months my husband and I purchased a 2000 Toyota 4runner from Greg in May 2010. We drove 5 hours to purchase this vehicle because my husband had talked extensively with Greg over the phone regarding maintenance of this vehicle. He assured us all regular maintenance had been done as he was ""selling it for a good friend who takes good care of his cars"" One of our top concerns was if the timing belt had been replaced as it was right at the mileage that that needed to be done and Greg assured us that it had been.
We got to GoMotors the next day to look at the 4runner and my husband noticed it had a shimmy in the steering which after talking with our mechanic back home he thought it was probably the rack & pinon..which runs about $1,000. We understand we are buying a used car so there is going to be upkeep and maintenance so we could live with that...after looking the car over my husband asked him for the service records (which Greg had told him several times over the phone he had allllll service records) he could not produce them. My husband asked him if he could prove the timing belt had been changed...Greg tried to call the Toyota dealership (as he assured us all maintenance had been done by Toyota dealer) and they did not have any records of it being replaced. Greg of course could not get a hold of his ""friend"" that he was selling it for but assured us he had all the records.... The timing belt is around $1,000 to replace. Which is fine in itself but add that to the other $1,000 for the steering issues and that's a big chunk of change.
My husband told Greg we could do one or the other but not both and we loved the car but it just wasn't feesible for us right now and not knowing for sure if the timing belt had actually been replaced was a major issue.
Greg put it in the Seller Guarantee that if he couldn't produce the records for the timing belt that he would replace it on his dime. So we went ahead with the purchase. Another inconvience was the fact that he only had one key but he promised us that his ""friend"" had more keys and keyless entry. The jack is also missing which, again, he assured us his friend had. My husband had to go back to the eastern slope for business 2 weeks later and got a hold of Greg so he could pick up the keys and jack...Greg told him yes he did have it and it would be ready for him. My husband drove to Boulder on his way back home and low and behold no keys, no jack and no Greg. Of course no answer on Greg's cell phone either.
Almost ywo months later and we had yet to even hear back from Greg about the timing belt, the keys and the jack. We have replaced the timing belt as the seller guarantee we had with him expired after 30 days....imagine that.
My husband actually did a hold of Greg the other day regarding the keys...because they are coded and are going to cost us a couple hundred dollars...he said he would call right back after he talked to his ""friend"" but of course we have yet to hear from him..... oh and we just got the title in the mail the other day..thankfully as the temp tags expire by the end of July...just a few days away.
All in all I love my 4runner but our experience with Greg and GoMotors has been nothing but trouble. i would never suggest them to anyone. He is a liar and a cheat and after reading other reviews sadly it sounds like this is his way of doing business.
Cons: dishonest, won't return calls or emails
