The Glory Hole is a homeless shelter in Juneau, AK that FAR exceeded my expectations. I found myself there a year ago with no place to go. The staff were extremely helpful and the folks, like myself, whose circumstances led them to there, were friendly, helpful and positive...not the homeless derilects that most people classify them as. The place has a welcome feel to it; so much so, that even the cruise ship passengers waltz right in thinking its a restuarant or cafe (residents sleep above this area). So many tourists have walked right in to donate money to help the place out that the director, a fine gentleman of impeccable charactor, had to erect a donation box outside to keep the flow of people moving. The Glory Hole truly is a remarkable example of people helping people. And the director, who I'm sure is over worked and underpaid, should be commended for his efforts to squeeze so much quality out of som little money. God bless the Glory Hole in Juneau, AK.
Pros: Staff, management, micro economic management, the Director
Cons: Little parking
